Morrow County Search and
Rescue Posse formed in 1972
By MARY ANN CEHl'I.LO
The Morrow County Search
and Rescue Posse was formed
in May 1972 by Morrow County
Sheriff John Mollahan and a
group of 34 concerned citizens,
with the help of Gus Peterson,
a memter of the Grant County
Posse.
The formation was a
reaction to the tragic moun
tain search for Dr. Archie D.
McCurdo during the hunting
season of two years previous,
1971.
Dr. Mc-Murdo's body was
discovered by hunters Oct. 11
in the rugged Rig Potumus
Creek area.
He had disappeared Oct. 3
while hunting in the area with
his son.
Today the Search and Res
