Heppner's game last Friday
against Pilot Rock ended with
the score of 31-49, the Fillies'
loss.
Scores looked as if they
might be tied for the first half
but then Pilot Rock pulled

High school football players,
Ray Miller, Heppner, Gregg
Rietmann, lone, Lerry Wilson,
Riverside, and John Garrett,
Arlington, have been named to
the East team of the annual
East-West Shrine Club foot
ball game, it was announced
Monday.
The game will be played
Aug. 8 at the Baker High
School stadium in Baker,
Oregon. Karl Elliott of Cas
cade High has been named
head coach of the east team
and Bud Schoubes of Elgin
will be his assistant.
The announcement was
made by the local Tri -County
Shrine Club.
Ray Miller is a 61" 185 lb.
senior at Heppner High, where
he played center for the
Mustangs. He is the son of Joe
and Bonna Rae Miller of
Heppner.
Gregg Rietmann is a 5'10",
180 lb. senior at lone High,
where he played halfback for
the Cardinals. He is the son of
Bill and Marilyn Rietmann of
lone.
RC&D annual
meeting slated
A Columbia-Blue Mountain
Resource Conservation and
Development annual meeting
will be held at Columbia Inn at
McNary on Feb. 20 at 10 a.m..
President F.K. "Woody"
Starrett has announced.
The meeting will adjourn at
3 p.m. A no-host luncheon will
be available at noon.

This year the Morrow
County Fair Book will be
published by the Heppner
Gazette-Times, in a newspaper-type
tabloid form rather
than in book form.
The new Morrow County
Fair Committee and their
superintendents have been
working on the book, deleting
some parts in some depart
ments and adjusting some of
the premiums.
The deadline to turn in these
adjustments will be March 15,
in order that proofreading
may be completed and any
changes made.

On Friday, February 6, the
Cardinal girls traveled to
Arlington. The Cards were
defeated, 37-53.
The Cards were outscored In
the first quarter, 12-19. In the
second quarter the Honkers
increased their lead to 18-33.
In the third quarter the
Cards kept up pretty well as
the Honkers led by only one
point. The last quarter was
evenly matched as each team
scored 7 points. The Honkers
took a 37-53 win over the
Cards.
