The Most Rev. Francis P.

the best known state church

age of 85 on Jan. 17, and was
buried in Portland's Mount
Calvary Cemetery there last
Saturday.
Bishop Leipzig Is mourned
by Catholics and non-Catholics
not only for his long and
outstanding church work but
for several unusual activities.
Before he was appointed
Bishop of Baker he gave
outstanding service to many
parishes In western Oregon,
Including St. Mary's of Cor

years, to his becoming an
honorary life member of the
International Firemen's As
sociation. When he served the parish
of Eugene and taught at the
parish high school and coach
ed basketball there for a few
seasons he was responsible in

McKay appointed him to the
Oregon State Labor Concilia
tion Board to represent the
public.
The families of St. Patrick's
of Heppner remember Bishop
