The fifth annual Five-Day Plan to stop smoking will be broadcast on public TV on Monday through Friday, Sept. 8-12, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., to demonstrate that smokers can, indeed, quit-especially when they see others do it. Residents 'in Morrow County : area will be able to watch on , their local Oregon Educat ional and Public Broadcasting v Service Station. Viewers can join in the program by obtaining Kits at p $3 each at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner. A stop-smoking team from Portland Adventist Medical Center-Ronald 0. Franzke, ' M.D., an otolaryngologist, and Harold 0. Burden, M.P.H., director of health education at the center-will present pro gram guidelines. Frank Bon nema, ex -smoker and Portland-area TV announcer, will serve for the fifth year as host and anchorman. A toll-free line will be available for telephone calls. A "preview" session will be broadcast on Friday, Sept. 5, with the showing of the Film, "Let's Call It Quits," featur ing Tom Bosley, from 7 to 7:30 p.m. on your local OEPBS Station. A half -hour followup telecast is also scheduled from 7 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. IS, when the studio group will report how their first weekend on their own has gone.
