Basketball ramp. The team
will fly back to Germany the
last week of August.
The local all star team will
reciprocate later this year
with a tour of Germany.

France. The boys and girls

said spokesman Dave Laven
der, who is also director of the
Northwest Basketball Camp.
Umatilla Fair
Board to meet
The Umatilla County Fair
Board will meet Thursday.
July 31. at 8:30 p.m. in the
office on the fairgrounds
following dinner with the Fair
Court and their parents.
The board will also hold a
daily meeting (Wednesday
through Friday) during fair at
12:30 p m. in Park Hall.
All concessionaire will meet
Thursday. July 31. at 8 p.m. in
Thompson Hall to set prices
for food concessions during
fair.

Craft Courtyard
Artists will be busily fash
ioning things-from paper,
from glass, from iron, from
gold. They will be typical of
the craftsmen creating their
versions of the 1980 Oregon
State Fair theme. "Heritage
Info the 80's."
"The Craft Courtyard has
grown in Just a few years to
one of the most popular
attractions at the fair," ac
cording to Fair Director
Dwight Butt. Artisans forging
wrought iron, blowing glass
creations, carving wooden
toys, crafting leather goods,
creating individualized jewel
ry and shaping pottery, will be
among those demonstrating
their talents and answering
questions of fairgoers.

plant being kept in homes, the
horticulture market continued to
grow last year. A survey found
that more than 80 percent of
U.S. households grow plants.
Of the estimated 236 million
planters bought in the U.S. dur
ing 1979, more than half were
plastic.
More than 53 percent of the
respondents said they kept more
plants in 1979 than during 1978.
On average, Americans kept a
total of 21 planters in their
homes, up from 10 in 1975. Of
those keeping plants, 45 percent
said they expect to keep even
more in the future.
