Steigers win Willow girls baseball Stoigers won the Willow frock Girls Softball League title with a 10-2 record as the season ended last week. The Morrow County Grain Growers were tied with Steig ers for first place going into the final game of the year but the Redwings were upset by Les Schwab and had to settle for second place at 9-3. Les Schwab was third at 7-5 and lone and the 76ers tied for fourth place it 2-10. , In games played last week. Les Schwab trounced the 76ers 33-4. the Steigers smashed Les Schwab 32-8. Les Schwab upset the Redwings 11-9. the Condon Angels now 11-0; Braves second Condon's Angels continue to dominate the Heppner Little League as the team went 2-0 last week to raise its record to 11-0 overall. The Angels beat the Hep pner Giants .13-3 and edged the Heppner Dodgers 8-7 in games played last week. The second-place Heppner Braves won two and lost one to have a 7-4 record for the ear. The team lost to the Heppner Dodgers 21-15 but came back to beat the Fossil Rangers twice 16-10 and 12-6. Heppner's Giants are in third place at 7-5. That team Edmundson, Crook score at Pendleton June 19. eight women from Willow Creek Country Club participated in a nine-hole visitation at Pendleton Coun try Club. More than 100 women from northeast Oregon and eastern Washington attended. Roger Doyle, club profes sional, announced the winners of prizes with Pat Edmundson (low gross) and Fran Crook (low net) winning honors for the field. Judy Wright and Vi Wilgers coached the Morrow County Grain Grow ers Redwings. Phyllis Payne, Jean Strange and Michelle Portman coached the Les Schwab team. The Dodgers are in fourth place at 6-6, and the Indians are fifth at 2-9 and the Rangers last at 1-10. The Rangers won their first game of the year by beating the Indians 19-16. Babe Ruth loses 15-0 Morrow County's Babe Ruth baseball team (ages 13 to 15) has had its ups and downs this season. The team was down Monday night as it lost to one of the top teams in the league, the T-Shirts from Hermiston, 15-0 in six innings. The Morow County team ends its season this week with home games at the fair grounds Field today, tomorrow and Saturday. M J A INSURANCE Jam StraRull of Ijexington and Rocky Steagall of Board man won the all-around titles at the Oregon State High School Rodeo finals this past weekend. Jana Stengall won the all-around cowgirl title with 344 points by placing first in the breakaway calf roping, first in the pole bending, fourth in the team roping with partner Brett Sherer, sixth in the barrel race, seventh in the goat tying and 10th in the girls cow cutting. Rocky Steagall was the all-around cowboy with 325'i points. He was the champion bull rider, placed second in the saddle bronc riding, was fourth in the bareback bronc riding. placed sixth in the boys cow cutting and was seventh in the calf roping. Tara Mahoney won the rookie award at the rodeo as she scored 200 points. She was sixth in the pole bending, sixth in the breakaway calf roping and eighth in the girls cow cutting. The top four finishers in each event will be participat ing in the National High School Rodeo Championships in Yakima. Wash. July 28 to August 3. If the Heppner third Kelli Kelli Bergstrom of Hep pner's swim team swam too fast for her own good at the Heppner Invitational Swim Meet last Sunday. Since it was a "B" meef by AAU standards, awards were given for slower times. If a person swam a race too fast for the B standards, he or she could not win an award. Bergstrom had three races like that as she had "A" standard times in the 120 meter freestyle, 60 breast stroke and the 60 butterfly. She did slow down enough to capture first place in the 240 meter individual medley and first in the 120 breaststroke. Despite the rainy weather, there was a good crowd for the meet. Hood River won the meet with Pendleton's club second and Heppner third.
