Fishing season opens Saturday A great many anglers are looking forward to the general opening of the trout season in Oregon Saturday. April 26. even though the day may be wet, windy and cold. While that may be the opening day generally in Oregon, the season for many streams in Morrow County will be delayed until May 24. The Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife says if one is doubt, the angling regulations may be checked. Among streams in north eastern Oregon that will have the later opening date are Willow Creek, Rhea Creek, Butter Creek and McKay Creek above the McKay National Wildlife Refuge. Coastal rivers also will remain closed until May 24 to protect outmigrating salmon and steelhead. ' A few other waters around the slate will have different opening dates, and some waters are simply not stocked until later when water condi tions and temperatures are better for fishing. Whatever the weather and water conditions are, "open ing day" is a ritual that comes off in spite of snow and high water, sports fishing enthusi asts say.
