Morrow County unemploy
ment rate increased to 7.3
percent in January with 280
fewer people working than the

the largest factor as that

county was off some and work
at the coal-fired plant near
Boardman has reached its
peak and is cutting back down
in employment.
Total employment in the
county was 6,450 with 470
unemployed.
The unemployment rate in
the state of Oregon increased
from 7.6 in December to 8.2 in
January.

There were 25 buyers and 41 consignors represented at
today's market. Market trend: With the numbers of cattle
going through the sale as short as they are, it is difficult to
test the market accurately, however, the market was lower
this week. The shortage of cattle is due in part to the weather
with mud preventing trucks from being able to pick the cattle
up if the rancher can get them worked and ready to come in.
This is one of the few times of the year when we appreciate
our constantly blowing wind, as it does help keep our pens
drier than most yards are fortunate to be-.
Thank you,
