p.m. The annual event is
sponsored by the lone Garden
Club.
Participants are asked to

Items missing
at high school
A tape deck and turntable
were reported missing in an
apparent theft at Heppner
High School recently. Police
Chief Dean Gilman said. Also
reported taken was a piccolo
from the high school music
room.
The police chief said there
was no sign of forced entry at
;the school. The assumption is
that someone with a key took
the items when classes were
not in session. Gilman said the
thefts were believed to have
occurred Dec. 14. School
officials are attempting to
determine the serial numbers
of the stolen items.
The police chief also repor
ted the apparent theft of two
guns from a display cabinet at
the Coast to Coast hardware
store on Dec. 27. He described
the weapons as a Rugar
Black. .357 magnum, single
action, with a 6'L-inch barrel,
,and a High Standard .22
calibre Sport King with a
41 2-inch barrel.
'80 baby still due!
Area merchants will pro
vide an array of gifts for the
first baby of 1980 to be born at
Pioneer Memorial Hospital in
Heppner. However, as of New
Year's Eve, no expectant
mothers were in the maternity
ward. "Not even a labor
pain," said a hospital spokes
person. pj&Bc Noffoi
