The appointment was made by Oregon Governor Vic Atiyeh and the term is for two years. The 1979 Oregon Legislature passed House Bill 2735, which started the Oregon Rural Health Act. This act created the State Office of Rural Health in the State Health Planning and Development Agency and a 14-member Rural Health Coordinating Council, which will act in an advisory capacity to the office. Principal purpose of the act is to assist rural communities in the develop ment of their health care systems as well as coordina tion of statewide efforts affect ing health care in rural areas. Twelve of the council's 14 members have been appointed by the associations and agen cies which are specified by the legislation. Jepsen is Homemaker Su pervisor for Oregon Project Independence for Morrow, Wheeler and Gilliam Counties. Heppner man fails to claim refund The name of Greg A. Griffits of Heppner appears on the list of unclaimed 1978 federal income tax refunds, according to the Internal Revenue Ser vice. Ralph B. Short, IRS district director for Oregon, said over $200,000 in refunds have not been claimed by their owners. Approximately 900 checks have been undelivered for a lack of forwarding addresses. "Camelot" auditions scheduled Auditions for "Camelot", a musical production by the music department at Blue Mountain Community College, will be held Monday and Tuesday nights, Nov. 19 and, , 20, at 7 p.m. in the Pioneer Theatre on campus. About 30 parts are avail able, according to Dave Mil ler, the college vocal music instructor and director of the show. Jody Noble will act as assistant director. "Camelot will be staged Jan. 24, 25, 26, 27, 31 and Feb. 1 and 2. State school chief OK's turkey s Some 4,000 Norbest turkeys stored in Eugene by the Oregon Department of Educa tion have passed inspection by the U.S. Department of Agri culture and will be released to schools. Concerned about the possi bility of chemical contamina tion, State School Supt. Verne A. Duncan last month ordered the Norbest turkeys be held in storage until cleared by the USDA. "All turkeys schools receive through our commodity distri bution program have met all appropriate health stan dards," Duncan said. Campus offices close for holidays Facilities at the McCrae Activity Center on the Blue Mountain Community College campus in Pendleton, will be closed during the Thanksgiv ing holiday Nov. 22 and Nov. 23. All offices on campus will be closed those days also. Through her job she works in Condon, Arlington, Irrigon, Boardman, lone, Lexington, Heppner, Fossil, Spray and Mitchell. Her previous work experience includes serving as a medical secretary for physicians in Pendleton and Heppner. A graduate of Pendleton High School, she has also studied at Oregon State Uni versity. Jepsen has also taken part in continuing education workshops at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendle ton, Portland Community Col lege, and through the East Central Oregon Association of Counties. Other members of the council and their representa tion include: Mark Murray a pharmacist in lone, State Board of Pharmacy; Judge Andrew J. Leckie of Fossil, Eastern Oregon Health Sys tems agency; and John Rohrer from Pendlton, Ore gon Association of Hospitals. About 180 meals were served at the early Thanksgiving-type lone Cardinal Club Turkey Dinner Sunday at the lone Legion Hall. Turkey with home-made salads, rolls and pies was served at the meal. The salads and desserts were donated by many people in the commu nity according to lone High School Principal Chuck Starr, A lot of money is expected to be made from the dinner for the Cardinal Club since the prices were $4 for adults, $2.50 for students and 50 cents for children under six-years-old. The lone High School rock band performed after the dinner and many customers stayed and danced to the music. The money will be used to support the lone High School Scholarship Fund and other related school activities. The Cardinal Club will provide a $250 scholarship to an lone graduate this year, present a movie at the end of the year, provide candy to everyone at the Christmas program and sponsor a reception after the graduation ceremonies in the spring.
