The event was emceed by former Heppnerite, Neal Parks and dinner speaker was Lions District Governor S.L. Calvin. Tailtwisters Robb Rush and Ron Palmateer kept the meeting lively and garnered a sizeable amount of fine money for the Lion's Sight and Hearing Foundation. The mood was festive and the night's entertainment capped off by music from the Jim . Ackley Band. Officers for t979-80 were installed by Past District Governor Al Starns. : They include Pres. John Edmund son, First Vice Bill Helphin stine, Second Vice Carmon Bjella, Third Vice Frank Pearson, Secretary Bill Kuhn, Treasurer Brad Christensen, Tailtwister Robb Rush and Lion Tamer Bob Krein. The. club's board will consist of Ron Forrar, Larry Mills, Bob Byrnes, Al Osmin ahJ Cliff Green. ' ' Sixth annual Charter Night MErQETQMSiD GQ(BinnrDfl Erin Evans steiiliniwit Erin Evans selected top scholar The Morrow County Educa tion Association, on behalf of its members and all of the personnel , of the Morrow County School District, has announced the 1979 recipient of the Morrow County Educa tion Association Scholarship award, Miss Erin Evans. Erin Evans, 18, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Evans of Irrigon. She attended Riverside High School, grad uating this past May. She will attend the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho and major in education, with concentra tion in home economics. Erin has been very active in all aspects of school life and participated with her fellow senior class members in a wide range of activities, excelling in whatever she has done. She has held various offices both at the class and student body level and has been an active participant in both FFA and 4-H, winning numerous awards in competi tion. Of her intention to enter the teaching profession and home ' economics specifically, Erin says, "I seek to communicate to others what I have learned and love." The Morrow County Educa tion Association Scholarship award is made annually to a graduating high school senior or a college or university student from Morrow County schools who desires to qualify for an elementary or second ary teaching career. The award is supported by the District's teachers and other interested personnel from within the District. The value of the scholarship award is $500. Births There were seven births at Pioneer Memorial Hospital during the month of May. Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Shan non, Irrigon, were the parents of a boy, John Dale, May 4, weighing 8 lbs., 15M oz. On May 9, a girl, 7 lbs. , 7 oz. was born to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kenny, Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Holtz, lone were parents of a girl, Brenda Lou, May 9, weighing 9 lbs., 3 oz. A daughter, Connie Lou Anne was born May 10 to Mr. and Mrs. Montee Crum, lone, 8 lbs., 5 oz. A girl, Shannon Lynn, 7 lbs., 10'2 oz. was born to Mr. and Mrs. David Lincoln, May 14. On May 16, a girl, Katie Jo, 7 lbs., Vk oz. was born to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ekstrom III. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lee Nolan, Lexington were the parents of a boy, Charles William, 9 lbs., 3 oz., May 28.
