Hood River Valley Extension tour 'unforgettable' for 45 ladies

the wonder of the beautiful
view. That was just one of the
experiences enjoyed by the 45
who shared a lovely day in the
area of Hood River last
Tuesday.
Luck rode with the group,
for although it was raining at
home, the sun shone down the
river! First stop for the group
was a tour of Jantzen where
they saw blouses and T-shirts
quickly progressing down the
assembly line. The Hood
River distillery gave them
insight into the bottling of

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Swanson
are the parents of a boy born
April 27 at the Good Shepherd
Hospital in Hermiston. The
baby weighed 4 lbs., 12 oz. and
has been named Luke Gar
land. Grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Francis Circle of
Roseburg, and Mrs. Irene
Swanson of Heppner.
Norman Nelson had major
surgery at St. Mary's Hospital
in Rochester, Minn, on April
24. Last reports indicate he
was doing well and may be
dismissed soon, but will re
main in Rochester awhile.

The May lesson for study

requests from homemakers
concerning techniques of mat
ting and framing pictures, as
well as how to make their own
frames and tricks for wall
arrangements. It's a topic
homemaker's will really en
joy, for it was taught for
leader-teachers by OSU Ex
tension Home Furnishings
specialist, Dorothy Brown.
The lesson offers a slide
show ''n; of techniques, as well
as actual materials for each to
work with during their meet
ings, and answers many
questions frequently asked.

Carty Coal Fired Plant, and
other developments in north
Morrow. So. ..here we go
again! June 8 is the date, and
you may start reserving a seat
immediately. The famous tour
guide, Harold Kerr, will again
be on hand to point out
developments and points of
interest, as well as Bus Clough
of the PGE Public Relations
department. Costs will be kept
to a minimum, and new and
different sites will be included
in the plans for the day.
More information will be
available soon, but in the
meantime, we expect the bus
to fill up fast.
