By Eva Hamlett
Back home again, and it
seems good to be back in the
wide open spaces, away from
all the hustle and bustle of city
life and the constant stream of
traffic. Leaving here we drove
to Downneville, Calif, and
spent several days with
Norma and Thomas Hamlett
(Adon's brother).
We visited relatives in
Vallejo, Calif, then went on to
Hayward, and went out to the
Gillig Corp. plant, where my
cousin Bud (Charles) Lundell
is parts manager. They build
school buses and transit
buses. He took us on a tour of
the plant where they were
building school buses. It was
very interesting and I was
impressed with the sturdy
construction and all the safety
features they had on them.
They had a huge lot filled with
transit and school buses ready
for delivery. The nearest to us
was Yakima, Washington.
Since everyone was work
ing. Bud suggested we take
the Bart Expressway to San
Francisco, and spend the
afternoon, which we did. You
didn't realize you were going
under the bay except for the
darkness outside. We were
going to take the cable car
down to Fisherman's Wharf,
but after seeing the line-up
waiting and the way they
loaded them in the cars, we
decided to just walk around
the area until time to take the
Bart back to Piedmont.
We went back to Bud and
Jan's, and after dinner we all
went over to Dale and Beverly
Lundells for the evening. It
was the first time we had all
been together for quite a
number of years so we had a
lot of catching up to do. The
next day we went to Sunny
vale, Calif, and spent several
days looking up friends that
Adon had grown up with, and
also his niece and nephew
whom we hadn't seen for a
long time.
Easter weekend we spent at

Santa Cruz visiting Margaret
and Elmer Denson. We de
cided to come home by the
way of Klamath Falls and
Bend as we hadn't been over
that way for a long time. Bend
has grown until it does not look
like the same place. We got
into a heavy snow storm jat
Shasta, and from Klamath
Falls to Madras had light
snow falling. At Madras we
found the sun shining and had
nice weather the rest of the
way.
