Comparisons were made over a three-day period of time with a pre-determined product list. The products were priced in at least two stores in each town, with the lowest price used in the comparison. Not only are prices on comparable products very similar, there are other costs in shopping out-of-town. i Gas, wear-and-tear on your vehicle, and lunch for example cost more than most shoppers would even think of saving. .' For instance, a shopping trip to Hermiston-for a vehicle getting 20 mpg takes 3 four and-a-half gallons of gas, at today's prices more than $3.50.
