SIX The Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon, Thursday March 15, 1979 Legislators to speak at Pendleton meeting Local citizens will have an opportunity to present their views to members of three committees of the Oregon House of Representatives Tuesday, March 20, 1979, 1:30 p.m., at the National Guard Armory in Pendleton. The committees on Inter governmental Affairs, Hous ing and Urban Development and State Government Opera tions are traveling to this area as part of a fact-finding tour to hear from citizens living outside the Willamette Valley. The public is encouraged to voice their comments on the subjects of state and local government, housing and ur ban development. The hearing will take the form of a "town-hall" meet ing, one of nine to be held this month throughout the state. Tour participants are travel ing with the National Guard in conjunction with routinely scheduled training flights. Chairmen of the three committees are: Rep. Glenn Otto, Dem., Troutdale, Inter governmental Affairs; Rep. Rod Monroe, Dem., Portland, Housing and Urban Develop ment; and Rep. Drew Davis, Dem., Portland, State Govern ment Operations. Timber receipts listed for counties Timber tax receipts totaling more than $10.1 million have been distributed to 35 Oregon counties by the Oregon De partment of Revenue. The 16 counties under the Eastern Oregon Severance Tax program received $673,000, representing third quarter payments for the current tax year. The Eastern Oregon Severance Tax has been in existence since 1961. Morrow County received $24,640 in third-quarter pay ments, with Wheeler County receiving $27,901 and Umatilla County getting $35.930. The largest chunk of east of the Cascades timber tax money went to Klamath County, with $224,528.
