Heppner, Oregon, Thursday November 30, 1978 THREE Theft, drug charges keep Circuit court busy Five persons arraigned on drug charges and four charg ed with various theft counts ippeared before Circuit Judge lack Olsen in Heppner Tues day. Pleading not guilty to eight rounts of alleged theft and lunting violations was Terry Wichael Barker of Heppner. Jarker was arrested Oct. 14, md accused in the theft of a ifle from a vehicle in Hep ner, a CB radio from a farm 'ehicle near Lexington, and ;harged with illegally possess ng deer and pheasant meat, barker's case was continued ending trial. Brant C. Engbert of Hep ner pleaded guilty to a .'harge of maintaining a jremise for keeping a control ed substance (marijuana). Engbert was arrested by tate police in August, when narijuana was found growing it a Burton Valley site he was naintaining. Judge 'Olsen irdered that a pre-sentence report be made for Engbert. Roni Boyer of Heppner, who was arrested in the same incident as Engbert. pleaded guilty Tuesday to a similar charge in her instance, a misdemeanor and was sent enced to one year's probation and a $155 fine. Richard Ellis Pettyjohn. of Heppner was found guilty of violating the terms of his probation and handed down an additional year of probation, plus a 30-day jail sentence and restrictions on possessing or consuming alcohol. Pettyjohn received his initial probation term for furnishing liquor to a minor. Judge Olsen ruled that he violated that probation term by again furnishing liquor to a minor during an Oct. 8 incident. Pettyjohn's initial probation term was to have expired on Nov. 4. Todd Edward Markillie of Boardman pleaded not guilty to two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled sub stance for sale and two counts of drug possessionMarijuana was involved in the charges. His case was continued pend ing 'trial. Tamara McKenzie of Board man was indicted for manu facture of a controlled sub stance (marijuana), and her case was continued until. Dec. 8. ' Benjamin Rauch of Heppner pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing and delivering a controlled substance, and to charges dealing with the theft of chainsaws and equipment from a Umatilla County park. Rauch was arrested in Octo ber. His case was continued pending trial., Bruce Rogers, 33, of Pasco, Wash., was sentenced by Olsen to three years probation and 90 days in jail for theft of services from the Dodge City Inn in Boardman last year. Danny Huffman, formerly of Morrow County, now of Wallowa County, pleaded guilty to. and was sentenced to three years in the penitentiary for. first degree theft. The theft involved riding tack taken from the property of Ik'ttv. Chrislman of Hardman last spring. City officials said guests will be present at the meeting to answer questions. The regular lone city coun cil meeting will be held Thursday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall. Vivian Hayes Vivian Haves, 63, Heppner, died at St. Mary's Hospital, Walla Walla, on Thursday, Nov. 23. She was born June 28, 1915, in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of Henderson and Marv Ellen Medlock Stout, and moved with her parents to Eastern Oregon in 1918. She had been a resident of the area ever since. 1 On Jan. 31, 1931, she was Patients admitted to Pio neer Memorial Hospital this past week and still receiving care are Jack Little, Jim Hager. Judv Hampton and Nellie Mahon, all of Heppner. Patients admitted and later discharged were Marv Ulrich, Heppner and Roberta Jones, Lexington. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Dahl Jacobson. lone, are the par ents of a son. Dannie Rav, 8 lbs.. 2 :li oz., born Nov. 24, at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. He joins a brother at home. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dannie Tolman. Trona, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Barnev Jacobson. Vancouver. Wash. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Hank Cooper, Wa tonga. Okla.. and Paul White. Trona. Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Law rence Adelman. Heppner, are the parents of a son, Justin Robert. 9 lbs., '( oz., born Nov. 23, at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. He joins a brother and a sister at home. Haves at Heppner. Mrs. Haves was a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star. Funeral services were con ducted Mondav, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church, Heppner with the Rev. Edwin Sikes officiating. Carl Marquardt and Carlita Bloodsworth sang "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art" accompanied at the organ bv Kathrvn Hoskins. Active casket bearers were Howard Brvant, Terrv Hughes. F'ave Prock. Harold Peck. Matt Hughes and Ed Gontv. Honorary bearers were Wilbur VanBlokland. Claude Graham, Terrel Benge. LeRov Gardner, Gene Ferguson and Bill Collins. Concluding services and vault interment were at Hep pner Masonic Cemetery, with Sweenev Morluarv in charge of arrangements. Mrs Haves is survived bv her husband, James J. Haves and a son. James H. Haves, both of Heppner: a brother, Everett Stout. Olvmpia. Wash., and two grandsons.
