28th Annual Federal Land

The two day meeting was
conducted by the Federal
Land Bank of Spokane. Direct
ors attending from the Pendle
ton Association were Milton
Morgan of lone. Edwin Miller
Jr. of Heppner and Richard
Wilkinson of Heppner.
The association directors
heard a keynote address given
by Dr. Don Paarlberg. Profes
sor Emeritus from Purdue
University. Dr. Paarlberg.
who teaches courses in Ag
Policy and Research methods,
presented "Outlook for the
Kit's." Paarlberg had held
appointments from three pres
idents: Eisenhower. Nixon
and Ford, having been assist
ant to the President, co
ordinator of the Food-For-Peace
Program. Assistant
Secretary of Agriculture and
Director of Agricultural
Economics. He also has serv
ed as economics advisor to
four Secretaries of Agricult
ure: Benson. Hardin, Butz
and Knebel.
The directors, who are
elected to their association
board by borrower-members,
also heard Federal Land Bank
President A. Wayne Neel give
an overview of the Spokane
Land Bank's operations. The
Federal Land Bank of Spo
kane extends long-term real
estate mortgage credit
through its 4(1 associations to
over :i2.(i(i(i farmers, ranchers
and rural home owners in
Washington. Idaho. Montana.
Oregon and Alaska.
The Pendleton Federal
Land Bank Association prov

mortgages credit to farmers,
ranchers and rural home
owners in Umatilla and Mor
row counties.

Judy is one of the top
players in the world and
originally hailed from Salem.
