Government
"Government has increased too much in
terms of programs and in terms of the amount
of funds needed to maintain these programs,"
commented Bill Bellamy. There is a definite
need for a decrease in the overall scope of
government both on the state and federal
leygl. be said.
Salaries
Salaries for the state legislature have
increased significantly in the past two
sessions. "I will not support any other salary
increase," said Bill Bellamy. Efficiency
cannot be expected from government when the
lawmakers continue to Increase their benefits.
Profession
"I strongly endorse the working legislature
concept, where the legislators must maintain a
profession in order to make a living," said Bill
Bellamy. Salaries should not be large enough
to support .an existence. "I support biennial
sessions instead of annual sessions, he said.
Agencies
Government regulatory agencies must
work with the people and businesses when
regulating. "The agencies can't just demand
regulation. Local people should be involved in
decisions and flexibility must be established in
the agencies policies," said BUI Bellamy.
Bureaucracy
The bureacratic process is becoming more
and more burdensome to the local people and
local businesses. A simpler, more efficent
form of government needs to be established,
said BOJ Bellamy.
Business
Fiscal accountability should be a must for
government. The people should know where
their mpney is being spent. Agencies should be
held strictly accountable for their funds both to
the government and to the people.
"Government should be run as a business,"
laid Bill Bellamy.
