Bill Bellamy has always worked. He
has served as news editor and secretary
of the Oregon Vocational Agriculture
Teachers Association. He was named
the outstanding young ag teacher for
Oregon last year. In college. Bill
Bellamy was named the outstanding
sophomore in agriculture and the
outstanding young man in education. In
high school, he was a state FFA officer
and later received the American
Farmer Degree.
Those are just some of the awards
Bill Bellamy has accumulated in 28
years of working.
Bill Bellamy has had to work hard
for everything. He held his first job
when he was 12. Four years later when
his mother died he and his dad were
responsible for raising four brothers
and three sisters. As the oldest in the
family, Bill Bellamy learned what it
was like to make it on his own.
He has held a variety of jobs while
growing up. Bill Bellamy worked for
the Sherman County Journal, The
Sherman Branch Experiment Station,
Moro Grain Growers and the Heppner.
Lumber Company. In addition, he
helped some of the Sherman County
farmers harvest their crops.
His ties to agriculture helped him
decide to become a vocational ag
instructor. He graduated from Oregon
State University in agricultural edu
cation. He has since completed his
Masters Degress in agricultural educa
tion with minors in forestry, range
management and education.
Six years ago, Culver High School
hired Bill Bellamy as the vocational ag
instructor. At Culver he is a respected
member of the community. He has
developed a working relationship with
the local people, the students and the
faculty.
His personal goals have centered
around his students achieving awards
and recognition in the FFA. He takes
pride watching them develop careers in
the agricultural occupations.
Bill Bellamy is active. He enjoys
traveling, meeting new people and
maintaining contact with many close
friends throughout the state. When time
permits, he trains his horse and tools
leather.
