Candidates Fair
set for Nov. 2
at BMCC
Candidates Fair has been
set for Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in
Blue Mountain Community
College's Morrow Hall lecture
room.
Local, qounty and state
candidates will have five
minutes to describe their
reasons for running for public
office.
Moderator for the evening
will be Blaine Hanks, BMCC
broadcasting instructor. No
formal presentations will be
given on the ballot measures,
although these topics may
come up in the question
answer period following the
speeches.
The forum is being sponsor
ed by the Pendleton branch of
American Association of Uni
versity Women. Helping them
are the League of Women
Voters and the East Oregon
ian. Chairing the event is Ann
Schwandt. Her committee
includes. Mary Davis, Janet
Groat and Amy Bedford as
well as other volunteers from
the groups involved.
A reception will follow the
fair where the public will have
a chance to talk personally
with the candidates.

Grange officers elected
: Lexington Grange No. 726
held its regular meeting on
Monday evening, beginning
with a pot-luck dinner at 6:30.
The meeting was conducted
by Master Carl M. Marquardt.

Work has started this week
on the setting up of the new
double-wide home of Mr. and
Mrs. Mike Kane at their lot in
Lexington.
Mr. and Mrs. William N.
Jones of Lincoln City are
visiting this week with the
Lincoln City man's brother
and family, Mr. and Mrs. C.C.
Jones.
Sherrie Marquardt visited
her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Marquardt, from Port
land, where she is studying at
Good Samaritan Hospital.
Norma Marquardt is a
patient in Pioneer Memorial
Hospital in Heppner.
Mr. and Mrs. Ira Owen and
children arrived Sunday even
ing for a visit with Mrs.
Owen's grandmother, Norma
Marquardt, parents Mr. and
Mrs. B. Marquardt and other
relative and friends. The
Owens now make their home
in Oklahoma.
Franklin Messenger, from
Bend, and Carroll and Gerald
Messenger from Portland
)iave returned to their homes
after a weekend spent with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs.T.
E. Messenger Sr.
Lola Breeding of Irrigon
visited a couple of days with
her grandaughter and family,
Mr. and Mrs. LLoyd Humph
reys. Mrs. Breeding was
enroute home from a visit with
her mother, Cora Burnside of
Spray.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry M.
Breeding and family of Gresh
am were Lexington and
Heppner callers last week.
David Jones is again at
home, and will be employed at
the Kinzua Mill.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Palmer and Mrs. Kenneth
Marshall were Ukiah callers
Sunday, doing some work at
their home there.
Greg Davidson of Portland,
and Mrs. John Flint and
daughter Sadie of Beavertson
visited with their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Davidson over
the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davidson
and Gladys VanWinkle were
dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Vern Viall in Boardman on
Sunday.
Anita Davidson, who is
attending Seattle University,
is scheduled to undergo surg
ery Friday of this week to
correct a bone which did not
heal properly following a leg
fracture.
