EIGHT The Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon, Thursday, October 19, 1978 I' Fair Board holds recognition dinner A good-sized group of cit izens who have worked with the Morrow County Fair and Rodeo gathered at a fall Recognition Dinner on Satur- Willow Grange to meet Oct. 20 Willows Grange will meet in the home of Margaret Akers on Friday, Oct. 20, for an all-day meeting. Members are urged to bring salads or desserts. Marilyn Childers will serve as co-hostess for the event. The Willows Grange will meet again on Saturday, Oct. 21, with the men cooking a pancake supper starting at 6:30 p.m. A lecture program will follow, starting at 8 p.m. day evening, Oct. 14, in the Fair Pavilion building. Fair Board Chairman Vir-' ginia Grieb, Lexington, pre sented appreciation plaques to a number of workers on behalf of the Fair Board. Those receiving plaques were Zearl Gillespie, Board man, for long-time service as a Fair Board member; Geo rge Luciani, Butter Creek, for outstanding service as a Fair Board member; to Delpha Jones, Lexington, for dedicat ed work as a Fair Committee Chairman; Dennis Doherty, Heppner, who has spent sev eral years as Rodeo Secre tary; Lee Ansotegue. Hep pner, 1978 Rodeo Chairman. Liz Curtis presented a statistical review of this year's fair and rodeo. Mrs. Grieb praised Mrs. Curtis and her family members for their work with the Morrow County Fair and announced (hat Liz has resigned in order to take a teaching position. The Board is seeking a replacement for the position. Guests of honor for the evening who were given special introductions were new Fair Board member Pete Ricfvirrk It lie Lois. Irrigon; the 1979 Rodeo Chair man, Rocky Proctor, Irrigon; Lori Childers, 1978 Fair Prin cess, lone: Mr. and Mrs. Adrain Beehdolt, 1978 Fair Pioneer King and Queen. Following dinner, which was catered by Jim Rogers, color slides of the 1978 Fair and Rodeo were shown. Hospital Notes Palicnts admitted to Pione er Memorial Hospital this-past week and later discharged were Nyla Pilon. Grcsham, Debbie Ranch and Annie Scliwarz, both of Heppner. Birth Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Swe eney. Condon, are the parents of a son. Cameron Patrick, born Oct. 11. He weighed in at 7 lbs. He joins a brother, Corey, and a sister. Nicole, at home. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Everett Keithley and Mr. Jerry Sweeney, all of Hep pner. Great grandmother is Mrs. Ida Gvahill. lone. Eleven affirm faith in Lutheran ceremony In a special Service of Celebration at Hope Lutheran Church Sunday, Oct. 15, eleven persons made public confession of their faith. Seven young people and one adult confirmed their baptismal promises following courses of study on the Christian faith in general and Lutheran doctrine in particular. Three other adults made an affirmation of their faith and were received into member ship of the local congregation by transfer from other areas. Those confirmed were Darrell Miles, Janet Plocharsky, Jeff Sumner, of Heppner; Jody Holt, Todd Turpin, DeDe and Judy Hansell of Arlington, and Les Payne, Heppner. All received gifts from the parish and from Aid Association for Lutherans, a national insurance company. Those welcomed into the congregation by transfer were Heppnerites Judy Maas, Phyllis Payne and children and Linda Shaw and son. Italian missionary speaks at K inzua Church service Miss Lynn Mai of Trieste, Italy, lead the services at the Kinzua Community Church last Sunday. Church members and guests enjoyed her talk about her work. She also showed slides. Following the services the twenty-five members and out-of-town guests attended a potluck dinner.
