Among those exhibiting in the FFA Beef Division, the Hep pner Chapter was runner up for the Herdmanship Award. . Each member recieved a blue ribbon, while in individual standings, Ken Grieb took , fifth place overall and sisters Julie and Geri tied for sixth. ' i In FFA Cohlormation clas ses for Angus, Ken Grieb took first place in Class 5, Junior Heifer ' Calf and Champion Junior Female. Grieb took the Grand Champion Angus Fe male with this entry. In class 10, Ken Grieb also took first place with his Senior Yearling entry and had Senior Female Champion. He received Res erve Grand Champion Female honors with his Senior entry. Julie Grieb also took first place honors in Class 2, Senior Bull Calf. Geri Grieb placed second on Class 7, with her Summer Yearling Heifer. In FFA Conformation clas ses for Polled and Horned Herefords, the single exhibitor from the Heppner Chapter took top honors as well. Krynn Robinson of Heppner placed first in Class 10, Senior Yearling Heifers, and went on to receive Champion Senior Female. She also received a plaque for Grand Champion Polled Hereford. Female don ated by the Amercian Polled Hereford Association. In addi tion, Robinson was awarded the Oregon Poll-ette trophy for the highest scoring Polled Hereford exhibitor at the Oregon State Fair. Selection is based on sportsmanship, herd smanship, showmanship, and placings in classes. Presenta tion was made at the awards ceremony August 29. On August 27, Heppner's FFA exhibitors displayed their talent as showmen and again received many top honors. The Angus Showman ship 'Division saw Julie Grieb take first place in Class 1 and a return. Ken and Geri Grieb placed first and second resp ectively in Class 2 and both had returns to compete for Champion Showman. Krynn Robinson received first place in Class 2 of the Hereford Divison and a return. Geri was also named Champion Angus Showman while Ken Grieb took Reserve Champion. Kyrnn Robinson was named Champion Show man of the Horned Division. Hereford Division. The competition continued as Heppner's FFA Judging teams took part in the Livestock and Dairy Judging Contests on Tuesday, August 29. The Livestock team placed a respectable 11th out of a total of 66 teams, while the Methodist youths plan Sept. 23 dance marathon On Saturday evening, Sept ember 23, the Senior High United Methodist Youth Fel lowship is holding a dance marathon in the church base ment. They have invited the Lutheran Youth to be their guests for the evening. Everyone will join at a pizza dinner beginning at 5 p.m. and for the evening's dancing which will begin soon after dinner. Houghton School Cafetorium. A dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m . Parents are requested to bring a salad or dessert. The rest of the meal will be prepared by 4-H leaders. A program will follow with recognition and awards going to those who are deserving.
