The Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon, Thursday, August 17, 197& B-FIFTEEN Learn skills from food drying to Arab bread baking at 4-H 'Action Alley' at fair "Action Alley" one of the newest additions to County Fair, promises to be one of the most popular additions, with "show me how" presentations ranging from food drying and Arab bread to apple head dolls! Both 4-H members and adults will be sharing special skills, and informative presen tations throughout the fair, with the action events offered both as entertainment and education. Look for the "Ac tion" sign, as well as a full list of the special presentations in the Main Pavilion. Special events of interest to adults will be the food drying program at 2 p.m. Monday, August 21, by Molly Saul, and the pocket bread demonstra tions by Jeanne Howell, home economist for the Oregon Wheat Commission. Jeanne will present her demonstra tion Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and repeat Sunday at 4 p.m. Francine Evans. 4-H leader, will present a program on Wheat Weaving Sunday after noon at 5 p.m. Wheat weaving is an ancient craft, recently returning to popularity for Christmas ornaments and other home decorating. Origami, the Japanese art of paper folding will be the topic for two different presen tations, with Gladys and Becky Hobbs teaching the art " on Saturday, and Judy and Lottie Laughlin on Sunday afternoon. There's a long list of 4 H members who will share their skills and talents on many topics, ranging from back packing to piano, and topics in between! So if it is action you-are looking for at County Fair... look for the sign "Action", then pull up your chair and enjoy the show! A full list of actions events includes: Janet McElligott. Wheat Weav- 4-H leaders to be honored at YurIr fa at Appreciation for the many hours and tender care given by 4-H leaders will be expres sed in a special breakfast for 4-H leaders and invited guests, on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 6:30 a.m. at West of Willow Restaurant. This special recognition was added to the county fair last year.
