Thursday, July 20, pi - t - i 5 i A O Lexington news Delpha Jones 989-81S9 The Women's Activity Cluh met at the home ot the chairman on Tuesday evening for its regular meeting. Plans were made for a stew supper followed by a program by the Eastern Oregon Old Time Fiddlers Assn. for Sept. 23. It was announced that due to the late harvest, the August Grange meeting has been cancelled and the Executive Committee will meet and take care of any business that may be necessary. Those present for the evening were Pat Wright. Betty Marquardt, Barbara Cutsforth, Virginia Peck, Florence McMillan, Josie Peck and Hilda Yocom. Refreshments were served later in the evening. The next meeting will be at the Josie Peck home August 15. Virginia Peck was hostess to the July meeting of the Three Links Club at her home on Thursday afternoon. Plans were discussed for the sidewalk Bazaar, and a spa ghetti supper and card party to be held July 22 at the IOOF Hall in Lexington. Marian Robinson, the chairman of the group, presided. A crafts day is planned for Thursday at the Barbara Cutsforth home, when the group will bring different patterns and crafts for ex change to be made for the annual Food Sale and Bazaar held annually in Heppner. Those present were Florence McMillan, Irene Padberg. Catie Padberg, Ruth Robin son, Eula Bloodsworth, Mar ian Robinson, Barbara Cuts forth, Dorothy Burcham, Del pha Jones and the hostess Virginia Peck. Irene Padberg won the door prize. The next meeting will be at the Dorothy Burcham home, where the group will be entertained with a lawn meeting. Mrs. Wayne (Donna) Pap ineau is a patient in Pioneer Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Havener of Boardman were callers at the C.C. Jones home Sunday evening. Dewie Irvin of Grants Pass and Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Irvin of Boardman were visiting rela tives in Lexington enroute home from Monument, where they had spent the day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Vinson. Jason Van Winkle of Taco ma. Wash, is visiting with his father, Billy, and his grand mother, Gladys Van Winkle, this week. Tom Bradd of Ontario was a weekend visitor at the Van O Kinzua news Barbara Pike The Jack Williamson family is back at its home in Camp Five following a two-week trip to Sacramento, Calif. Jack and Sandy and their two children, Annette and Justin, left June 29 to visit friends and check out the employment picture in the area. Bob and Laurie Hire and children were in Kinzua Mon day. Bob was here working while Laurie and the children spent the day with Bob's sister, Sue Mattison, and family. Jiggs and Rita Bowman enjoyed a long weekend visit from their daughter-in-law, Robin, and their two grand daughters, Erika and Natilie. The young Bowman's were without husband and father Joe, who is in California attending the National X-Ray Convention. Robin and her children returned home to Portland Monday to prepare for a trip to Boise, Idaho. Don't think that Rita and Jiggs are at home without company. ..they are babysit ting. ..or dogsitting Joe and Robin's dog Toby. Maybe Toby will help them stay busy while their Cindy is at the Cascade Basketball Camp this week. Winkle home. His wife Glenda has been here tor a couple of weeks and returned honievith him. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Wil liams were houseguc sts of his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Blair at l.euiston. whore they atten ded the -tfith class reunion of Mr. Williams class of the Lew'ishm High School. Hilda Yocom accompanied her son. Jack, to Calgary, Canada last week where they attended the Calgary Stam pede. Lee Wagenblast and Helen Kruger were Dufur callers on Saturday and attended the Farger-Roth reunion. Mrs. Roth is the grandmother of the Lexington ladies. Recent overnight visitors with Lee Wagenblast were a cousin and family of the late Alvin Wagonblast. Mr, and Mrs. Melvin Wagenblast and son Dennis. They were en route to The Dalles for a visit from Bucyrus. Ohio. This is the first time in 2:5 years that Mr. Wagenblast had been visiting relatives in The Dalles. Gazette-Times Classifieds Bring Quick Results Phone 676-9228 New procedures set for fair entries Persons wishing to enter animals or items in the 1978 Umatilla County Fair will find a new entry procedure to follow. Unlike in previous years, there is now no pre-entry required. However livestock exhibitors must still indicate by July 21 the kinds and numbers of animals (includes poultry and rabbits) ' they wish to enter, This is to be done by completing the ap propriate form in the pre mium book or by obtaining one from the Fair or Exten sion offices. Open class live stock exhibitors should also make their entry fee payment when returning this form. A three-sectional exhibit card mut be filled out lor These should accompany item or animal on entry day; Monday, August 7 for most items and poultry and rabbits (some floriculture on Thurs day), and Tuesday, August 8 for livestock. In addition to the exhibit card an exhibitor number will be assigned each person or club entering this year. This may be picked up (in person) at the fairgrounds beginning August 1 or on entry day. Premium Books, livestock "kind and number" forms and exhibit cards are available at the Fair office and at the Extension offices in Pendle ton, Milton-Freewater and Hermiston.
