Heidi went on to set a pool record for her age group in the backstroke event. Kinzua suffers loss to Stockdale Realty Stockdale Realty took an early lead and went on to defeat Kinzua 7-2 lastTuesday night in Hermiston. This was Kinzua's second loss. Kinzua had 13 hits but could only manage to score two runs. Stockdale scored two runs in the first, one in the second and two in the third before Kinzua could get on the scoreboard. Kinzua's first run came in the fourth on a triple by John McCabe. Gary Kemp knocked McCabe in as he tagged one of his three hits logged during the game. The last run was in the fifth for Kinzua when Delbert Binschus scored. Dave Eck man and Jamie Sands were left on base. Stockdale sewed up the win as Stockdale added two more runs in the sixth. Kinzua had only seven hits defense as they dropped Roemarks 3-2 in a game played last Wednesday in Hermiston. This was Roe marks first loss of the second half of season play. Kinzua held Roemarks scoreless till the fifth. Kinzua scored in the first when Jamie Sands hit a single and Keith Curnutt got on base with a walk. John McCabe's single knocked in Sands while Mike Rowell's sacrifice fly scored Curnutt. Gary Kemp was left on base. Kinzua scored its last run in the sixth when Keith Curnutt crossed the plate. Other bat ters who failed to score but had hits were Buck Query, Delbert Binschus, Gary Kemp and John McCabe. Roemarks threatened in the seventh, as they scored another run and left two on Dave Eckman and John McCabe combined for excel lent defense by outstanding catches as Kinzua knocked off the top team of the league, Erico, 11-8 this Monday night in Hermiston. Eight Kinzua batters were attributed with at least one RBI, with Mike Rowell lead ing with three and Jamie Sands receiving two. Kinzua scored runs in every inning. Kinzua put the first points on the scoreboard as John McCabe hit a triple knocking in Jamie Sands. Mike Rowell started off the second inning with a triple and Buck Query knocked him in with his double. Dave Eck man's single was left unable to score. Cont on page 6 Heppner swimmers placed second out of five teams competing in last week's Heppner Invitational swim meet at the municipal pool. A number of pool records were set during the five-way meet., with Heppner swim mers capturing many of them . Heppner fielded 44 swim mers for the meet, racking up a total of 440.5 points. Hood River, with 20 more swim mers participating than the Heppner squad, took first place with 774 points. Bend was third with 311, Prineville fourth with 144.5, and White Salmon last with 53. Heppner swimmers splashed their way to a pool record in the 13-14 girls freestyle relay, breaking the old mark of 3:03.6 by nearly four seconds. In the eight and under boys freestyle relay, Heppner took first and broke the old record of 2:26.2 by three seconds. Two Heppner squads took part in the 9-10 girls freestyle relay, with both breaking the pool record of 4:18.8, one of them by six seconds, the other by two. In individual events, pool records were set by Heidi Samples in the 9-10 girls backstroke and Karen Kenny in the 13-14 girls backstroke. Heidi finished in 1 :02. 4, almost seven seconds better than the old mark. Karen broke the record in her division by just under two seconds. Karen also broke a pool record of 1:52.5 with a second place finish in the individual med ley, clocked at 1:50.4. Other Heppner standouts included Keliy Bergstrom. who placed high in nearly every event in which she participated. On Sunday, Heppner will travel to Enterprise for a dual meet.
