Local winners abound in Morrow County Jr. Rodeo It was a big weekend for rodeo enthusiasts and Morrow County cowboys and cowgirls took their share of the hardware at the Junior Rodeo held here June 8-10. Reigning over the activities were 1978 Junior Rodeo Court members Queen Cindy Dough erty of Heppner, Princess Jana Steagall of Lexington and Princess Kathlessn Van Schoiack of Heppner. All-around cowgirl honors and the Harold Erwin Memo rial trophy went to Queen Cindy and Princess Jana, both ending the competition with 58 points. Mike Bosworth of Pendleton took all-around hon ors in the senior boys division. the junior competition Janette Van Cleave of Bend and Will McAuliffe of Fort Klamath took all-around hon ors. The first meet of the season is tentatively scheduled for Mil-ton-Freewater on June 24. Oaks said he welcomes all parents to watch practice sessions, and. stated that he plans to concentrate on work ing with the younger swim mers, developing style and technique. The public opening of the pool is scheduled for Saturday. Oaks has been a swim meet competitior for 12 years in his home town of The Dalles, and swims the 50 yard freestyle for Mount Hood Community Col lege in Portland.
