Cystic Fibrosis
Morrow County schoolchil

adults will be participating in
a 12-mile "horse-a-thon",
braving saddlesores and wea
ther to raise money for the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The event is scheduled to start
at 10 a.m. May 20, from the
Morrow County Fairgrounds
in Heppner.
Prizes, including belt buck
les, bridal reins and halters
have been donated by. local
businessmen to riders turning
in the most pledge money for
the fund raising event. T
shirts emblazoned with "I Did
It" will be awarded to all
riders turning in $25 or more
in pledge money.
Sponsors of the. event said
there is still time for riders to
participate in the event.
Participants must fill out
sponsor sheets available from
area schools, or from Pat
Wright in Lexington or Bobby
Angell in Heppner.
Riders are urged to check

consisting mainly of 13-year-olds.
Expected to return for
this year's season are Doug
Holland, John and Bob Bier,
runs in the first inning, on
singles by Greg Rietmann and
Robin LaRue, followed by a
homer by Kevin McCabe.
Despite the lopsided score,
the Cards outhit Condon, but
lost ground by tallying seven
run scoring errors. lone was
scheduled to face Sherman on
Tuesday and Heppner today,
in hopes of capturing its first
conference win.

subdistrict tennis meet in

saw seventh-seeded Thomp
son advance to the quarterfi
nals, after drawing a bye in
the first round, beating Debbie
Emerson of Oregon Trail in
second, and overpower
ing Pam Burns of Baker 7-5
and 6-3 in the third round.
