TEN The Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon, Thursday, April 27, 1978 ) Lexington news Delpha Jones 989-S189 Bunehgrass Rebekah Lodge No. 91 and Holly Rebekah Lodge No. 139 met at the Rebekah Hall in Lexington April 20 for the joint initiation for the two lodges. Initiated at this time were Joyce Buchanan for Holly and Ann Bergstrom for Bunch grass. The degree work was done by ladies in pastel colored formals, with the installing NG Delpha Jones in the chair. Assisting as officers for the degree work were: RSNG Vera Rietmann, LSNG Norma Rea, ISG Lucile Riet mann, OSG Delsie Chapel, RSVG Ruth Bergstrom, Trea surer Margaret Akers, and Secretary Edith Mathews all of Bunehgrass. Also assisting were Jo Irvin as Chaplain from Boardman and Valda Smith as LSVG from Hermi ton.. The regular business meet ing was conducted by the NG Irene Padberg. The Club President Marion Robinson announced a planned Card party and luncheon scheduled for May 12 at the Hall. Also there will be a Mother's Day Food Sale at this time. PNG Club President Leila Palmer reminded the girls of the coming luncheon dates, both in Lexington and Milton-Free-water. Lovely pies were served with coffee and punch later in the dining room. Visitors at the William J. Van Winkle home over the weekend were a son, Donald Van Winkle from Tacoma, Tom Bradd from Ontario, whose wife Glenda Kay re turned home with him after a two-week visit her, and Mike Kane from Louisiana who was here to get acquainted with his new son Patrick born recently at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. Patrick's mother is the former Leora Van Winkle. Visitors at the C.C. Jones ranch were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Graham and two grand sons. Mrs. Graham is from Sun City, Arizona, and Mr. Graham is from Sherwood and their grandsons are from Portland. Other weekend visi tors were Rick and Melissa Smith of Hermiston. PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE OF MEETINGOF COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION Notice is hereby given that on Monday, May 8, 1978, at 10 a.m. the Board of Equaliza tion of the County of Morrow, Oregon, will meet at the County Court House, Heppner, Oregon, to publicly examine the assessment rolls for said County of Morrow, for the year 1978 and to correct all errors in valuation, descrip tions, or qualities of land, lots or other property assessed by the assessor. The ratio between assessed and true cash value adopted by the Board of Equalization pursuant to ORS 309.028 is 100 per cent. It shall be the duty of the persons interested to appear at the time and place appoin ted. Petitions for adjustment of assessments must be filed with the Board of Equalization not later than the Monday of the week following the first week that the Board is in session. The Amicitia Club met at the Delbert Piper home Wed nesday for their regular meeting. Eileen Padberg won Hi, Mildren Davidson Second Hi and Hilda Yocom low. Lovely refreshments were served by the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Cutsforth were Salem and The Dalles visitors on Friday and Satur day of last week. Pomona Grange will meet Saturday, April 29, at 10 a.m. in the Rhea Creek Grange Hall. Dinner will be served at noon and the lecture program will begin at 1:30 p.m. Rollin Bishops celebrate golden anniversary April 23 Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Bishop were honored on the occasion of their golden wedding anni versary Sunday, April. 23, with a reception held at the Greenfield Grange hall. Hosts for the affair were members of the grange's Committee on Women's Activities, the Boardman Garden Club and the Ladies Aid Society of Boardman Community Church. More than 60 persons attended. In charge of the affair were Mrs. Walter Hayes, Mrs. Arthur Allen and Mrs. Gene Trumbull. Mrs. Hayes cut and served the three-tiered cake, Mrs. Hazel Miller was at the puch bowl and Mrs. Frank Marlow poured the coffee. Mrs. Grace Macomber of Pendleton had the guest book. Also assisting were Mrs. Chub Warren and Mrs. Darold LaChance. Mr. and Mrs. Bishop were married in Portland April 23, 1928 and lived at Blalock for four years, where Bishop was signal maintainer for the Union Pacific Railroad. They then moved to Biggs where they lived for the next 16 years. The Bishops came to Boardman in 1948 where they have lived since. Mr. Bishop retired from the railroad in 1963.
