, Supermarket Psychology
j If you understand how
supermarkets are set up.. .and
why certain items are dis
played in a specific spot...
you'll not only be able to shop
more quickly, but probably be
prepared to resist those items
not on your shopping list.
There is a reason for almost
everything being where it
is. ..and basically, the reason
is to encourage you to buy.
I Velma Seat, Extension food
marketing specialist will pre
sent a special informative
meeting on Thursday evening,
March 16, 7:30 p.m. at the
County Office Building, Irri
gon, on the subject "Super
market Psychology". It is a
meeting open to all interested,
as well as leader teachers for
study groups and 4-H leaders.
Plan to attend and learn about
shopping smart.
Scholarship Application
Forms Available
' High school seniors plan

scholarship application form
at the Extension Office for the
Alpha Gamma Rho Scholar

well worth the time it takes to

In Answer to Questions
Since the return of woven
fabrics to the home sewing
scene, I've had questions
concerning where pinking
scissors could be sharpened.
Since purchasing a new pair of
the scissors is quite expensive,
I'm happy to share informa
tion. Case Furniture, Hepp
ner, provides this service for
you. They will be happy to
give you more information.
4-H Livestock Member
Reminder
..April 1 is the big day to
remember. That is the date of
the "weigh in" for beef
animals to be sold at the
auction during fair. (If you
live in north Morrow County,
April 8 will be the day . ) All 4-H
beef members will want to be
present on the April 1 date, as
there will be other programs
involved. We plan to have a
livestock judge there to an
swer questions, as well as a
fitting and showing demon
stration by an expert.

Harold Peck
named to
Society post
Monday evening, March 6,
the members and directors of
the Morrow County Historical
Society held their quarterly
meeting in the Lexington area
home of Society President
Delpha Jones.
Harold Peck was chosen to
fill the vacancy on the board
which resulted from the death
of an original director, Bill
Weatherford.
The group discussed the
society's annual meeting and
decided that the September
date will be announced later.
This year's annual meeting
will take place in lone.
It was also decided to
encourage public attendance
at the quarterly meetings; the
next of these meetings is
slated to be held at Irrigon in
June.
Harold Becket told of his
trips around the south county
area trying to locate "miss
ing" graves. As soon as
weather permits another
workday will be held in an
effort to get markers on more
unmarked graves. Anyone
wishing to help with this
project should contact Harold
Becket, committee chairman.

4-H Leader Salute...
Pete and Lois Richards
Some leaders stay with us for a long time. Two such
leaders, Pete and Lois Richards, have served as leaders for
13 years. ...and we hope they'll be with us for at least that
much longer. Pete and Lois are livestock leaders for the
Irrigon 4-H club, the "Country Critters". They are active in
the leaders council, with Lois presently serving as chairman
of the north Morrow Council. They are two who are always
there when you yell for help. ..ready to assist in any way they
are asked. Their club includes all livestock. ..and
occasionally Lois has helped individuals with such projects
as photography when no leader has been available. The
Richards operate a farm near Irrigon; Pete works at the
Ordnance depot, and both are avid sports boosters as well as
4-H promoters. We salute Pete and Lois Richards for 13 years
of leadership.
