TWELVE The Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon, Thursday, February 2, 1978 UCC elects officers, reviews Election of 1978 officers and revision of By-laws were the main business at the annual meeting of the lone United Church of Christ Sunday, Jan. 29, following the 11 a.m. worship, and potluck dinner. Mrs. Fredrick Martin was elected Moderator; Mrs. Al fred Nelson, Assistant Moder ator; Mrs. Keith Rea, Clerk; Mrs. Bill Rietmann, Trea surer; and Robert Rietmann, Financial Secretary. Elected for three-year terms on the Board of Deacons were Willard French and Darrel Wilson. Holdover members are Don Bristow, Mark Rietmann, Kenneth Smouse and Milton Morgan, Elected for a three-year term on the Board of Deaconesses were Mrs. Milton Morgan, Mrs. Lee Palmer and a one-year term, Mrs. David The budget for Morrow beginning July 1, 19 J8, as detailed and sumarized below, was prepared by the DO Cash, Accrual, Modified Accrual accounting basis, and is, is not consistent with the accounting basis used during the last two years. Major changes, if any, and their effects on this budget are set forth in an accompanying statement. On the Board of Christian Education are Mrs. George Griffith for a three year term, Mrs. Marvin Padgerg, two-year term and holdover, Mrs. Bob Oswalt. Members elected on other committees were: Music, Mrs. Kenneth Smouse, Mrs. David Cheney, Mrs. Norman Nelson; Auditing; Lee Palmer and Rollo Crawford; Church Council members at large, Public NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING County School District Arleta Aldrich and Mrs. Robert Heideman. Delegates to the Central Pacific Confer ence are Mrs. Victor Riet mann, Don Bristow and hold over Charles Nelson and Brian Rietmann. The nominating committee preparing the slate of officers were Mrs. Norman Nelson, chairman; Mrs. Robert Riet mann and Mrs. Paul Petty john. In addition to reviewing the printed annual reports of the various boards and commit tees, goals and plans for the coming year were discussed. The 15th Annual Auction and Barbecue will be held on Saturday, June 3. Chairman will be Mrs. Darrel Wilson, immediate past Moderator for the past three years. U.C.C. Library Board slates special meeting Myrna Johnson, board chairman, announces that there will be a special meeting of the Heppner Library Board at 7:30 tonight, Thursday, Feb. 2, in the Heppner City Hall on Willow Street. fiscal year 19Zi-192i Governing Body) Lexington (City) 78 THE BUDGET FUND Topic Club plans annual spring tea The January meeting of the lone Topic Club was held at the home of Vera Rietmann with Loree Hubbard assisting her, Wednesday afternoon, January 25. . Plans for a tea for the girls who will be graduated from lone High School this spring were made. This annual affair is set for Tuesday, February 21 at the lone United Church social rooms. The afternoon's program was a review of the book "Storm Warnings" by Jack Higgins which was given by Loree Hubbard. The book's plot is laid during World War II and concerns a three masted sailing vessel that slipped out of a Brazilian port headed for Germany. Throughout the narrative the reader finds that persons of many nationalities became involved in the desperate struggle which takes place against one of man's oldest and most implacable foes, the sea. Mrs Hortense Martin recovers in Portland Mrs. Hortense Martin, Ter williger Plaza, Portland, for merly of Lexington and Hepp ner, fell recently and injured her back. A resolution was introduced which concerns the waste of game animals, after they are killed due to the improper methods of dressing them out for transporting. This resolu tion suggests that proper dressing instructions be inclu ded with the gun safely course and that pamphlets be given to those purchasing tags. Also suggested was increased pub licity for the safety program which is sponsored through the Extension Office. The resolution will be sent to the Game Commission, gran-. ges and state legislators.
