fall to
tough
Condon
Displaying a more potent
offense than on the previous
night, lone gave Condon a run
for its money before losing a
64-57 road contest Saturday.
(The Cards trailed by only
one point at halftime and were
within striking distance until
the final minutes of play.
Dennis Stefani and Kevin
McCabe led the lone attack
with 20 and 18 points respec
tively. Coach Del La Rue said his
team played much better than "
in their opening game loss to
Heppner as they hit on 23 of 63
shots from the floor for a 37
per cent effort.
"We were still outrebound
ed," LaRue; said of Condon's
42-25 edge on the boards. "But
the shots were starting to go in
and we were able to get some
offensive rebounds."
The Cards played the game
without, defensive standout
Danny McElligott who was out
with the flu and La Rue said
his presence could have made
a difference in the late stages
of the game against the quick
Condon team.

Peck gave the Mustangs a
leao' they never lost again.
Mustang coach Tom Day
credited the win to good team
play including valuable contri
butions from the non-starters.
"They did what they had to
do although the defense was a
little sloppy at times," Day
said. "They actually played
better fundamental basketball
Friday night (against lone)
but a win is a win and it's nice
to be 2-0."
Day said he was pleased
that the Mustangs didnjt crack
under the half court press
used by the Grizzlies and
added that the team showed
some good ball handling for
this early in the season.

Brock called the game a good
team effort both offensively
and defensively as Heppner
raised its season record to 2-0.
