Janice flew in from North Carolina where she was getting acquainted with her niece, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wylie, born recently in that state. The young miss, named Jenni fer Lynn is the grandaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ed wards, Portland. Great grandfather is A.M. Edwards and maternal grandmother is Sally Lowry, Mt. Vernon. Mr. and Mrs. John Karran and children of Pendleton were overnight guests of Florence McMillan, Mrs. Kar ran's grandmother. The Amicitia Club met at the home of Barbara Cutsforth on Wednesday for their regu lar meeting. Winning high was Eileen Padberg, second high was Annetta Klinger. Travel ing prize went to Eileen and Mildred Davidson. Lovely refreshments were served. Mrs. Cherry Harman and girls of The Dalles visited at the Dean Hunt home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davidson and son Herb were Portland callers over the weekend. Lee Wagenblast is at her home after a few days spent in Pioneer Memorial Hospital. Gladys Van Winkle motored to Pendleton on Sunday where she visited Cleo Van Winkle who is very ill at St. Anthony's Hospital. Mr. Van Winkle is pending a couple of days with Mike Kane at their mountain cabin. Holly Rebekah Lodge met on Thursday for their regular meeting. Members were re minded of the food sale Wednesday and of their part in the Artifactory in Heppner. Plans were made for a Christman pot luck and pi nochle party Dec. 18 at the hall. Refreshments were served by Donna Papineau. Betty Christman and Joan McDaniels flew from Pendle ton to Boise last week where they visited Mrs. Christman's daughter, Jean. Leita Messen ger has been confined to her home suffering from injuries sustained in a fall last week. Methodists worship A traditional Thanksgiving Eve Service featuring special music by the church choir will be held tonight (Wednesday, Nov. 23) at the Heppner United Methodist Church. Rev. Steve Tollefson and the congregation invite everyone to join in this service of thanks for all of God's gifts as expressed in words and music. Nursery care will be provided for young children during the service. Thanksgiving dinner Everyone who might be spending Thanksgiving Day alone is reminded to come to the Episcopal Parish Hall for dinner. Come early and visit by the fireplace before the meal.
