On the way home they stopped to visit Mr. and Mrs. Elma McMillan at Salem, and Richard and Tom Hamlett in Portland. On Aug. 22, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crabtree entertained with a dinner in honor of Mr. and 0 Lexington news. Delpha Jones "Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Messen ger were Hermiston callers one day last week where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Zearl Gillespie who were patients in Good Shepherd Hospital. Since then Mr. Gillespie has been able to return to his home in. Boardman. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mar quardt and sons, Phillip and Doug, have returned from a trip to Knotts Berry Farm and Disney Land. They were joined for the trip by their daughters, Norita and Charma, who make their homes in Portland. ." Guests of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. -Jones for the Fair and Rodeo week were: Mr. and Mrs. Dave Stamback of Haines; Linda and Rick Smith, Vickey . Walden, and Jim Heller of Hermiston ; and Charlene Whitney and Kim and Frank Wilcox of Portland. ' Friends were sorry to hear that Cleo Van Winkle had the misfortune to fall while visit ing in Heppner for the Parade 'and was taken to Pioneer Memorial Hospital where she is a patient. She makes her home at Hiersche's Nursing Home in Pendleton. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Van Winkle over the Fair week were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bradd of Ontario, Billy Van Winkle from Enterprise; JuneDuVall from Seattle and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kane. Mr. and Mrs. Kane are moving this week to the Amanda Duvall home in Black Horse Canyon, the former Bergen Ledbetter home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Robin son were Mt. Adams visitors over the Labor Day weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Breeding of Grants Pass, Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Irvin of Boardman, Mr. and mrs. Stuart Smith and family of Hermiston were callers at the Florence McMil lan home Sunday. Later, the guests and Mrs. McMillan enjoyed dinner at the Victor L. Groshen's home in Heppner. Monday found the group at the river and Irrigon Park where they enjoyed swimming water skiing and a picnic. BORDERLESS SATIN. The Palmers were taking Scott home and visiting their daughter for a couple of weeks. Other guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Marshall. Later that evening the Crabtree's drove to Herm- 989-8189 Lola Breeding of Irrigon was a Lexington caller last week visiting with friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Car roll Messenger and children, Jerry Messenger of Portland and Franklin Messenger of Bend have been visiting with their parents Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Messenger recently. Holly Robekah Lodge met on Thursday evening for the first meeting of the fall and winter term. The meeting was conducted by the Noble Grand Carolyn Howard. Visitors were Mildred Padberg and the District Deputy President and convention chairman, Mary McMurtry of San Souci Lodge in Heppner. Plans were dis cussed for the Convention to be held September 30 and the special meeting with Holly and Bunchgrass September 29. Refreshments were served later in the dining room. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bur cham and children of Pilot Rock were Lexington and Heppner callers visiting friends and relatives. Labor Day weekend visitors at the C.C. Jones home were Mr. and Mrs. Dave Stanback of Haines, Mr. and Mrs. Ike Van Leuven of LaGrande and Wendy Miller of Heppner. The group attended a picnic on Sunday at Bull Prarie honor ing Bobby Jones of Camp 5 who was celebrating his birthday. There were about 35 guests present for the pleasant afternoon. Among those attending the Rodeo and Fair at Walla Walla Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. John Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yocom, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Papineau, Mr. and Mrs. Tick Eng, Mr. and Mrs. Lawerence Schoonover. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yocom visited their daughter and family Mr. and Mrs. Dale Jones in Portland on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. William J. On Aug. 27, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crabtree met Mrs. Mike Hall of Moscow, Idaho, in Walla Walla and she took Tim and Alisa home for a weeks visit. Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Turner of Eugene, spent the Labor Day weekend at the home of Mrs. Turner's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Stefani. Miss Patti Crawford of Mesa, Arizona spent the weekend visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Ida Coleman. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crabtree spend the weekend of Aug. 27-28, at Yakima, Washington, where they were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Ron Crabtree of Tacoma, Washington. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Swanson recently returned from a two week vacation.
