Ore., Thursday, August 18, 1977 THREE Family Fun Night Something for everyone The old adage "something for everyone" certainly ap plies to the 1977 Morrow County Fair and Rodeo. Family Fun Night is one of Butcher while you wait? It's quite a bargain if you happened to have bagged a rhino lately, but even if your animal is more of the farm variety, you can still have it butchered for only $18 at the Fair. Mobile Butchering Services is planning a butchering exhibition and demonstration at the Fair on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. After the demo, the men with the knives will be glad to butcher your animal while you wait. For more information on the service call 898-8189 or the Fair office. Kid's Day set for Thursday Lollipop tree. ..clown toss... junior jaws...tic-Tacky-toe... mini basketball. All part of the fun for kids on their day at the 1977 Morrow County Fair and Rodeo Thursday, Aug. 25. Kids Day begins at 11:30 a.m. with the Pet Show held on the Indoor Arean. The Parade of Pets will follow at 12 noon. Youngsters ages 5-11 are eligible to enter with their favorite domestic pet and each exhibitor will be award ed a silver dollar. Following the Pet Show, Tacky the Clown will open his magic bag of tricks and games and Bob Kroll of Kroll's Department Store will emcee the games mentioned in the first of this article. From Reno, Nev., Tacky will be at the Fairgrounds during the week but has saved his special fun for Thursday afternoon. Tacky a new feature at the Fair this year is also spon soring a coloring contest for youngsters ages 5-12 and Thursday afternoon winners of the contest will be announc ed. Coloring entry forms can be picked up at Kroll's Depart ment Store in Heppner, Del's Market in Lexington, Bris tow's Market in lone, Thrifty the main entertainment at tractions that can be enjoyed by the entire family and it starts Wednesday at 6 p.m. with a Kentucky Fried Chick en dinner in the center of the arena. After dinner Gary Grieb will climb atop the auctioneer's stand and proceed to sell to the highest bidder, guaranteed, home-grown Morrow County potatoes. Bingo will be happening at the Lions Club booth on the fairgrounds from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with all proceeds going ' to the Oregon Lions sight and hearing program. Proceeds from the potato auction will go to a building fund for a structure that would be used to house produce exhibitions at forthcoming fairs. Family Night emcee D.O. Nelson will have the pleasure of introducing county officials, the Fair Board and committee members, the Morrow County Fair and Rodeo Court, Potato Queen Staci Ortega of Echo, Food Center in Boardman and C&H Market in Irrigon. Com plete rules and age groups are included in an advertisement on page 22 of this section. Carlson named 4H rep Louis Carlson, lone, has accepted the position of Mor row County representative on the Oregon 4-H Foundation, and as such will be involved in a variety of meetings and functions. He will represent the Oregon 4-H Foundation throughout the. county, meet with the state committee to voice local opinions, and in general, be a local ambas sador for the Foundation. He will be attending his first meeting with the committee in Salem during the State Fair. Carlson has been active in 4-H in Morrow County as a 4-H member and leader for most of his life. In addition, his wife has served as a 4-H leader, and all his children have been involved in the 4-H program. the Boardman Harvest Fes tival Court and others. Prizes will be awarded the 4H, FFA awards Thur. No county fair is complete without awards, those special recognitions that are provided by businesses, groups, and individuals that mean so much to the member who has worked hard and achieved. A special awards program for both 4-H and FFA members is planned for Thursday after inirt,,,,. II ID LOVE E oldest guest, the one traveling the farthest and the couple with the most children attend- noon at 4:30 p.m., with everyone invited to be there to see the kids take a bow for jobs well done. Plan to attend as many youth events and activities at the Fair as possible. It is the time to see many good things kids are doing, and your attending tells them you care.
