Asserors notes valuations correction In last week's edition of the Gazette-Times, there were two errors in an article con cerning the reduction of asses sed valuation on Morrow County dryland grain land. The article should have stated that the reduction in dryland valuation is directly caused by lower wheat prices and not because of drought conditions. It was also in correctly reported that the State of Oregon will set the mill rate later this year. The mill rate is set by the county assessor. FEDERAL DEPOSIT IKSURANCE CORPORATIOH County voters Tuesday re jected a school operating levy measure designed to establish a stronger base for school budgets. The proposed constitutional amendment called a "safety net," was voted down by a 626-341 margin. Two other measures dealing with the authorization of ad ditional veteran fund uses and the increase of veterans' loan bonding authority both re ceived the county's support. We, the undersigned citizens of the Morrow County School District, urge you to vote YES on the School District Levy May 24. Why? Because... The Levy represents $127,917.00 reduction from the proposed levy defeated by the voters in April. Based on the estimated district value of $261,334,552.00 for next year, this budget would cost 10c per thousand less than the current years tax levy and 40c per thousand less than the levy defeated in April. Reductions in the budget have been made without reducing the Educational offering to students whenever possible. Tuesday, May 24, the polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please vote YES on a realistic and necessary Morrow County School District budget.
