The court was also com prised of Sally Matheny, Steve McLaughlin, Carl Christman and Deb Holland, who were introduced by Junior Class officers Sally Sumner, Bruce Young and Cathy Palmer as they presided over the crown ing ceremonies. , Approximately 200 students, parents, faculty and friends attended the coronation amid Square, Round dancers meet in The Eastern Oregon Area Council of Square and Round Dance Clubs meet every fifth Saturday of the month, and Saturday, April 30, was the Grand Squares club's turn to host it. The evening began at 6:00 p.m. with a potluck supper in the basement of Willows Q Eva Hamlett Mothers attend OSU function Mothers from lone attend ing Mothers' Weekend at Oregon State University were Mrs. Darrel Wilson, Mrs. Henry Krebs, Mrs. Roland Bergstrom and Mrs. David Cheney. Mrs. Krebs and Mrs. Wilson attended functions at the Alpha Gamma Rho Fratern ity. Fraternity members from lone are Greg Wilson, Skye Krebs, Joe Rietmann, Dick Snider and Charlie McElli gott. Joe Rietmann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rietmann, was voted Outstanding Pledge for the A.G.R. house this year. Charlie McElligott won this same award last year. Greg, Dick and Charlie all have served as house officers. The Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity has been outstand ing in campus leadership this year. Five members will serve as campus officers next year, one of them as Oregon State University Student Body President. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crabtree spent the weekend of April 22 at the home of Mrs. Sharon Gelinas at Caldwell, Ida. They also attended the 4-H Horse manship at New Plymouth, Ida. The Junior-Senior Banquet was held at the cafeteria on Friday night, April 29. The theme of the banquet was the "Roaring Twenties." The prom was held on Saturday night at the grade school gym Bike rodeo set A bicycle rodeo will be sponsored in lone, Tuesday, May 10, according to Carolyn Holt, Morrow County juvenile director. The rodeo will get underway at 3:45 p.m. at the lone High School parking lot. Sponsors of the event are the Morrow County Peace Offic ers' Association and the Mor row County Juvenile Advisory Committee. Participants will be cyclists from grades one through eight. Police will check all bikes before the contests to make sure they are safe. A similar bike rodeo pro gram is scheduled for Hep pner on May 22. attractive decorations. The ceremony followed the theme, "An Evening in Paradise." Music was provided by "Captain Jack" from Spo kane. The prom was preceded by the Junior-Senior Banquet held at the Heppner Elks' Club and prepared by Junior Class mothers. Sally Sumner, Junior Class president, served as Mistress of Ceremonies at the banquet. Entertainment at the banquet was provided by Jim Ackley and his band. Grange Hall, lone, with the host club providing the main dishes. Members from all four clubs in the area were present at the meeting, which followed the supper. One of the more important items of business discussed was tentative plans to hold a benefit dance for lone news - and the theme was "Opening Night on Broadway." Ashley McCabe and Joan Doherty were crowned King and Queen of the prom. On Monday afternoon, May 2, the mem bers of the G.A.A. held their annual Mothers' Tea, honor ing all high school mothers. This was held in the gym and the program consisted of the girls modeling the dresses they wore to the prom. Miss Linda Lee Swanson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Swanson of Portland, will become the bride of Mr. Robert Lee Huston, son of Mrs. Robert J. Huston of Portland, on Friday, May 27, at seven o'clock in the evening at the All Saints' Catholic Church in Portland. Linda is a niece of Mrs. Irene Swanson of Heppner, and Mrs. Adon Hamlett of lone. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Crabtree and Miss Barbara Fritchy of Tacoma, Wash., spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crabtree. Regular Grange meeting will be held Friday, May 13, at the hall, with a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting. The group then returned upstairs for installation of next year's council officers in a candle lighting ceremony. Area Council President Er vin Williams called incoming officers and area delegates from all four clubs to form two squares. As President Wil liams read each couple their duties of office and they promised to uphold these du ties, their candles were lit by Bill and Daisy Collins, rep resenting Public Relations officers. Officers installed Wednesday, May 3, a joint installation of Post Officers and dinner was held at the Heppner Elks' Club. On Saturday, May 14, a Girls' State Tea for the district is set for the Heppner Legion Hall at 2 p.m. On Monday, May 16, the last post meeting for the spring, along with a potluck dinner, will take place at the hall on Chase Street. The tour included more than an hour at the Portland General Electric coal plant near Boardman.
