But ,' as a team, Heppner's Mus tangs and Fillies walked away from the Morrow County In vitational track and field meet in Boardman with the first place "team" trophy. Heppner's boys finished fourth and the girls were third. In the boys' division, where 18 teams participated, Helix i' won the tourney with 62 points. ; ' They were followed by Joseph ' 52, Elgin 49, Heppner 4VA, ,j Wheeler 45', Burbank 44, Umatilla 42", Union 39, Wes-ton-McEwen 38, Oregon Trail ..28, Imbler 22, Condon 16, .Riverside and Arlington 14, - Prairie City 13, North Powder Cove 0, lone 0. Oregon Trail, behind Jayne Ann Graham's three firsts, won with 67 points. North , Powder was second at 62, Heppner third at 54 and one third, followed by Elgin 49, Union 35, Imbler 27, Weston McEwen 21M:, Joseph 21, Burbank 20, Umatilla 18, lone 12, Arlington 10 and one third, Wheeler 8, Condon 8, Cove 8, Prairie City 5 and one third, Helix 5, Riverside 1. JVs fall twice Heppner's junior varsity Mustang diamond nine suffer ed a pair of defeats last week in Stanfield. Oregon Trail blazed past the Mustangs, 26-5, in the opener and 8-2 in the second game, Saturday. Nine hits, 10 walks and nine Heppner errors produced the lopsided Blazer victory. Mark Lemmon went three for five for the winners. Brian Kerr and Gordon Hoffnagle both hit two for three for the Mustangs. Jody Marlatt slashed a triple, the longest ball of the day for Heppner. Hoffnagle and Tim Hedman pitched for the Mustangs. Other Heppner stickers gain ing hits in the first game were Chris Zita and Lovgren. In the second game, Hep pner took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but gave it up by the end of the same inning. Hedman singled and Stook ey walked, setting up an RBI single shot by Hoffnagle. Fillys win 5way It helped that Oregon Trail didn't have speedster Jayne Ann Graham, but the Fillies used six first place wins Tuesday to take a two point edge away from the Pilot Rock Rocket girls and win a five team track inaugural. The meet marked the first efforts on the new Heppner, 400 meter track facility, still being finished by the Heppner Lions' Club. Heppner escaped with a two point edge after leading by 10 points with three events to go. The Fillies chalked up 62, Pilot Rock was second with 60V!, Oregon Trail 39, Ukiah 25 and Umapine, one. Maureen Healy won four first places, Tammy Lucas took a first, and a Heppner 400 meter relay team tied with Oregon Trail for a first. Healy won everything she performed in, jumping 5-1 in the high jump, running 61.5 in 400 meters, 16.8 in the 110 yard hurdles, and 25.8 in the 200 meter sprint. Lucas took the long jump with a leap of 13-11 and was third in the 100 meters. First place winners and Heppner finishers follow: -. Disc : Cook (OT) 91-, Diane Holland fourth. 400 meter re lay: Heppner 53.3, tied with Oregon Trail. Javelin: Connor ' (PR) 99-3, Holland fourth. 400 meters: Healy 61.5. Shot put: Cook (OT) 33-1, Janice Healy fourth, Holland fifth. Long jump: Lucas 13-11, Mollahan second. 100 meters: Tice (UK) 13.3, Lucas third. 110 hurdles: Maureen Healy won a pair of first places in the 18 team girls' meet, taking the 440 in 1 : 05.9 and the high jump in 5-2. She also was second in the 110 hurdles and the 220 yard dash. Jackie Mollahan was second in the high jump to Healy, Tammy Lucas was third in the 100 yard dash, and Janice Healy was fifth in the shot. Heppner's 440 relay was tied for fourth. Grace McElligott paced lone girls with a first place in the two mile at 14:32.9 and a sixth in the mile. Kim Petty john garnered a fifth in the 100. For Riverside girls, Erin Evans took fifth in the long jump. Brian Marlin and Marty Smith picked up all over Heppner's 47 points in the meet. Smith won the shot put with a toss of 44-5 and was second in the disc. Marlin was third in the long jump and third in the triple jump. lone scored no points. Riv erside's points came via Luke Maynard's third in the high hurdles and John Johnson's second in the pole vault. Oregon Trail rallied for three in the first, added one more in the second and third and fin ished with three runs in the fourth. Hedman led Mustang stick ers, hitting two for three in the second tilt. McEwen pitched for Heppner. Cards lose Condon left lone Friday with a 4-2 girls' tennis match win tucked away. lone picked up two wins, from a second v singles and third doubles match. Susan Thompson fell 6-1 and 6-0 to Jennifer Bauman. Ar lene Cannon bounced the Cards back with a 6-2 and 6-4 triumph over Barb Cooney. In doubles, the only lone win came from Michelle and Martha McElligott, who team ed for a 6-2, 4-6 and 6-4 win over Tammy Brahart-Cindj Rouska. The sophomore sprinter and jumper is currently the league leader in the 220 at 26.9, the 440 at 63.3, the 110 hurdles at 16.05, and the high jump at 5-3. Lorie Harrison is listed first in the 100. yard dash at 12.2 with Tammy Lucas hot on her heels at 12.25. Heppner's mile relay team is first at 4 : 52.2, ahead of Wasco County at 5:30.
