Plans were discussed for the District No. 20 meeting, which is scheduled for Mar. 19, a Saturday. Practice was held for the seating drill and for the flag tribute. At this meeting, Hilda Yocom, district deputy presi dent, paid Holly her official visit. She presented the seals of perfection to Delpha Jones, Ruth Robinson, Maureen Dav is, Carolyn Howard, Florence McMillan, and certificates to Irene Padberg and Debbie Pettit. The group will reveal their secret sisters at the next meeting, and those wishing to draw again, be sure and send name and dates if unable to attend. Lovely refreshments were served by Norma Groce and Alma Vinson. Elsie Fox is at home after a stay in Pioneer Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Fred Papineau is a patient in Good Shepherd United Methodist calendar packed Thursday, Feb. 10, the U.M. Susannah Circle will hold its February meeting at the home of Eva Robinson at 2 p.m. At the same hour, the County Extension Service is holding a special class in the church basement. Tonight and every following Thursday, the church's adult choir will meet at 7:30 for practice in the sanctuary. Arnie Hedman, former Hep pner School music director, is the leader and Pauline Miller is the organist. Next Sunday, Feb. 13, there 0 Kinzua Barbara Pike Camp Five women discuss Sat. meeting Camp Five Women's Club Meets The regular monthly meet ing of the Camp Five Women's Club was held at the Camp Five Hall on Feb. 2. Terry Todd was hostess to the six members present. A business meeting was held. The members voted to buy a new camera for the club. The ladies also voted to donate $25 to the Wheeler County Booster Club for lights for the football field. A report on the card party held Jan. 29 was given and plans for another card party to be held on Feb. 12 were discussed. A craft session will be held at the hall at 10 a.m. on Feb. 9. Surprise party Honors Birthday Dinah Jackson was sur prised by a party given by her daughters and husband on her birthday Saturday, Feb. 6. With the aid of Pat McMinn, Dinah was lured away from home for several hours. When she returned home, she was confronted by a gaily deco rated house and roomful of friends and family. Dinah was presented with a dozen roses, a gift from her husband, Johnnie, and daughters Angie, Andrea and Audrie. Refresh ments, including a beautiful cake made by Karen Cossitt, were served to those attending the party. Those present were Pat Mc Minn, Shirley Orr, Sharon Bell, Lauri Hire, Hazel Jack son, Angie Jackson, Andrea Jackson, Audie Jackson and Johnnie Jackson. Hospital in Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Irvin and son Bill were Lexington and Heppner callers on Saturday from their home in Boardman. Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Hen derson of Hood River were visitors in Lexington on Tues day of last week. Clayton Davis from Pendle ton spent last week at the Wm, J. VanWinkle home. Jerry and Carroll Messen ger from Portland visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Messenger, Sr. Norita and Charma Mar quardt visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill B. Mar quardt, from their home in Portland over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Hoffman are the proud parents of a son, born Jan. 31 at Pioneer Mem orial Hospital. The baby weighed 7 lbs. and 15 oz., and has been named Joseph Waide. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Papineau; great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Robinson, and Agnes Nichols, all of Lexington. will be a coffee and fellowship time following the morning service. At 2 p.m., the Ar lington Senior U.M.Y.F. group will arrive for an exchange meeting with the Senior High group here. Vicki Tollefson is in charge of the joint affair. Last week, a pipe came loose in the church basement and a flood resulted, which was cleaned up by Faye Pierce, Lincoln Nash and Vicki and Steve Tollefson. The problem was corrected by Line Nash with counseling from Cornett Green. news 768-2861 Sunday evening, Lauri Hire, Pat McMinn, Sharon Bell and Shirley Orr took Dinah to Condon to enjoy a pizza and attend a movie. Dinah reports that she had a most surprising . and enjoyable day. Clarence and Betty Benson left Thursday evening to spend a long weekend in Weiser, Ida., with Frank and June Stirm and family. They also visited with their daugh ter, Nancy, and her husband, Larry Christianson. On Satur day, Betty and her sister June went to Caldwell, Ida., where they were met by Dotty Emert, Sandy Shoemaker, Karen Ugalde and another friend. The ladies spent the day visiting and shopping. Betty and Junior returned home on Sunday evening. Hershel and Betty Murdock were in Heppner Thursday on business. Steve and Roberta Conlee and sons Robbie and Scott went to Portland Saturday to attend the wedding of Ro berta's cousin Dee Whitney to Deena Dugan. The Conlees relumed to The Dalles that evening, where they spent the night with Jack and Lola Houchin. Rita Bowman, Shirley Orr, Roberta Conlee and Deena Reid went to Spray on Thurs day to attend the grade school games between Spray and the Fossil teams. Morrow County fourth, fifth and sixth grade students planning to enter the second Elks' Eye Injury Poster Con test should mark Sunday, Feb. 13, on their calendars. That's the final day their school can judge entries in the contest. O Irrigon Francis Rose 'Simplicity' fashion show planned for AAon. The Simplicity Spring Fash ion Show and Tea will be held at Riverside High School, Boardman, at 7:30 p.m., Mon day, Feb. 14. The style show is sponsored by the 4-H Clothing Club, whose leader is Francine Evans, and by the "More Beautiful" 4-H Club of River side High and Jr. High School girls. The 4-H Club members will be modeling the clothes. Some have made the gar ments themselves. This is the third year the Spring Fashion Show has been given. No charge is made and everyone is welcome. A "Kids' Crusade" will be held at the Irrigon Assembly of God by the Waterer family, Feb. 20 to 24, meeting at 6 p.m. on Sunday night and at 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Pathways to Life is the theme of the Crusade, con Engaged Mr. and Mrs. Howard Smith, Cecil, announce the engagement of their daughter, Linda, to Mr. Ron Wilhelm, Heppner, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wilhelm, Heppner. Miss Smith will be a 1977 graduate from Arlington High School. Mr. Wilhelm attended Hep pner High School and is presently employed by Kinzua Corporation. An August wedding is planned. Tacky Tailors meet The Tacky Tailors 4-H Club met twice during the month of January. At the first meeting, Ruth McCabe demonstrated several ways of putting in zippers of different types. Meritorious achievement at McClellan Air Force Base, Calif., has earned the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal for Technical Sergeant Earl D. Henry. Sgt. Henry, a mass spec trometry supervisor, was pre sented the medal at McClel lan. where he serves with a unit of the Air Force Systems Command. Following judging by local schools, local Elks' Lodge judging will be held Feb. 13 to 19. Top winning posters from lodge competition will be entered in district contests, to be judged Feb. 19 to Mar. 5. District winners will be enter ed in the state contest to be judged Mar. 12. Oregon Elks have a special interest in preventing eye in juries through their support, since 1949, of the Elks' Children's Eye Clinic at Uni versity Hospital, Portland. The Children's Eye Clinic statistics show eye injuries in young children often are caused by rocks, dirt clods, sticks and explosions. A major Baked sale set for Fri.
