(Continued from Page 7)
Mollahan scored 15 points
in the contest, pacing the Filly
offensive attack. Healy fol
lowed with 20 rebounds, a
career and game high for her.
Vicki Edmundson kept up
her average, staying in the
double figures with a con
tribution of ten points. Wendy
Meyers had nine rebounds
and seven points and Grieb
added six points.
Healy was the Filly power
on the boards. Grabbing 20 of
the Heppner 47 caroms, Healy
paced the Fillies to a 47-33
board win.
Healy also led the team in
steals, with four.
Heppner hit 20 field goals to
Pilot Rock's 18, but the free
throw line performance mar
red the effort. From the
charity stripe, Heppner con
nected on 10 of 22 tries while
Pilot Rock had 16 fall out of
25.
Connor led all scorers for
the Rockettes, with 17. J.
Weinke had 13, Cathy Ward
had nine, Catherine Doherty
added eight and Cid Hamilton
had five.
Mollahan, who raced for
many of her points on fast
break, hit 46 per cent of 13
field goal attempts, canning
six. Edmundson hit 45 per
cent, nailing five of 11 tries.
In 37-36 squeaker
Pendleton deals Fillies fourth loss
A last second shot by Vicki
Edmundson hit the backboard
and the rim before falling
through the net, but both
referees simultaneously
whistled the shot dead. The
shot would have given Hep
pner a one point edge and the
win last Thursday over Pen
dleton in a non-conference
clash here.

Instead, the shot went in
vain and the Fillies had to
swallow their fourth loss at
the hands of the Bucks, 37-36.
Heppner led most of the
way, holding a quarter edge of
12-3 and 17-13 at halftime. But
in the third period, Pendleton
outscored Heppner 16-11 and
took a one point edge, 29-28.
The contest see-sawed
Jim Launer and John Bier
combined for 25 points, but it
wasn't enough last week, as
Heppner's eighth graders
dropped a 38-33 contest to
Pilot Rock.
Heppner's eighth grade
girls downed a previously
through the fourth period
until Pendleton gained the
37-36 edge. Heppner came
down the court and turned the
ball over five times in the last
two minutes before setting up
the shot that fell too late.
Maureen Healy paced the
Fillies with 12 points, followed
by Wendy Meyers with eight,
Vicki Edmundson with seven,
unbeaten Pilot Rock girls'
team. Score and statistics
were not available by press
time.
Launer scored 14 to pace
Heppner's Ponies and Bier
added 11. Both men worked
under the boards and came up
with good shots.
Launer hit 56 per cent and
Bier 54 per cent of their shots
from the field. Launer also
grabbed nine rebounds.
The loss, which knocked the
Ponies to 0-3 on the year, was
lost at the free throw line.
From the field, Heppner out
scored PR, 30-26, but at the
line, Heppner was three for 11
while Pilot Rook hit 12 of 20.
Tony Currin had six points
and Rick Cole added two for
Heppner.

strengthened it throughout
the contest.
Jana Steagall led Heppner
with 12 points, eight of those
in the second period.
Heppner fell behind, 10-2,
after one period and trailed by
eight at halftime, too, 21-13.

in the third to take a 33-19
edge, and then coasted home
with the 12-7 fourth period
tally.
Fitzpatrick was devastating
in the first half, counting
seven field goals and five free
throws for 19 of her game
high points.
When Fitzpatrick cooled to
six points in the second half,
Dogherty and Weinke came
on with nine each, both scor
ing eight points each in the
second half.
After Steagall, Julie Grieb
had six, Geri Grieb had four,
and Vicki Marlin and Pilot
Rock's Weinke scored two

PR had 18 field goals to
Heppner's 11.
Second half onslaught
blows
It started off bad and didn't
get any better.
Madras outscored Heppner,
48-17, in the second half, to
earn an 87-39 non-conference
victory clash Saturday. The
Mustangs never were in the
ball game.
Madras jumped out to an
18-10 first period lead,
strengthened to 17 points by
halftime, 39-22, then blew
Heppner out of the gym in the
second half.
All 12 men on the Madras
roster scored. Fiala led all

Sweek and Dave Piper with
six each, Bob Miller with five
and Howard Huddleston with
two.
