Re-Elect
Paul Wo Jones, Judge
Look at his Record in Morrow County
Roads:
Hard surface roads increased from 150-325 miles. Crushed rock roads from
400-600 miles.
Morrow County has more miles than either Union or Baker Counties.
Development:
Negotiations with B.L.M. in 1965-67 resulted in sale of governmental land In
Morrow County and made present agricultural development possible in
Boardman and Irrigon areas.
He has cooperated with our 5 cities on streets
and other municipal projects.
Under his leadership, the County Court has
coordinated activities with the Port Commis
sion and approved the current development in
the Boardman. Irrigon area.
Roads under planned development include
Wilson and Faler. A signal crossing at
Patterson Ferry Is In final stages of approval
and the last link on the Bombing Range Road
has been approved and the survey Is underway.
Morrow County built a clinic In Heppner and Is
negotiating a Federal Grant to erect a Health
Center In Boardman.
Taxes :
Morrow County has never gone over the 6 per cent limitation for the General
Fund support. The tax rate for all County services has declined from S3.92 per
thousand In 1973 to $2.05 In 1976 77. With the growth of the Justice of Peace
Court In Irrigon, new quarters must be found; Morrow County Is right now
accepting bids from contractors for a new office buildlr.g In Irrigon.

4-H to
'Tighten
the ship'
"We want you.. .only if you
want us," is a new motto being
incorporated by Morrow
County 4-H leaders, according
to Mike Howell and Birdine
Tullis, county 4-H coordinat
ors. The duo spoke at the Hep
pner -Morrow County Cham
ber of Commerce Monday,
showing a slide film that out
lined the county's 4-H pro
gram. Howell said Morrow County
planned to "tighten the ship"
and not be so lenient.
Howell said that 4-H leaders
would be advised to tighten
standards on attendance and
participation. Too many
times, Howell said, a young
ster is in 4-H only to get a
chance to sell an animal at the
fair.
The pair called the north
end of the county a challenge
and said that 4-H encourage
ment and interest was grow
ing there. Last year, almost
400 kids were involved in 4-H
in Morrow County.
Tullis told the chamber that
today, 4-H has grown from
cows and horses to the ad
dition of creative arts such as
tole painting, pet programs
and puppetry.
nounced today the appoint
ment of the Morrow County
committee.
