Engaged Religious courses offered Sept. 20 Party Line This weekend was rather a quiet one for the paper, some of our G-T staff attended a picnic on Sunday at the Umatilla Marina. Wil said the football was rough and the food was delicious. It was then to Boardman to cover the Harvest Festival. The Fairview school site was dedicatged on Saturday afternoon with a lot of old timers and classmates there. On Sunday, it was to the small wedding of Jim Rogers and Coetta DeBraal, held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mel Boyer, Lexington. I received a telephone call from one of Lois Winchester s great admirers. It seems as though Lois is a joy to the senior citizens of our community, always giving fresh vegetables and bouquets of flowers to everyone she can. A smile and thoughtfulness can go a long way these days and Lois has time for both. Doug Gonty has been home from the Air Force Missile base in Grand Forks, ND for 2 weeks. Doug is now a senior airman in the missile site security there. His brother Tom, drove back with Doug to Grand Forks. This makes the second trip there for Tom in the last nine months. It will be Ladies night tonight (Thursday) for the Elks ladies. The gourmet Chinese dinner that will be served, is one we shouldn't miss. Feed the kids at home mom, and take the hubby out to dinner. The dinner starts at 6 and cards at the same time as Lodge, 8 p.m. Old friends, who first met Frank and Hazel Hamlin in Panama, were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burns, and son Bud, Hawaii, visited the Hamlins over the weekend. The bruns have lived most of their lives in the islands, but are moving to Oregon this year. There is a saying, a nice place to visit but . . I don't think Freda Majeske would agree with me, tho she seems to think the islands are great. From Corvallis this week is Lavonne Bloodsworth, to visit her new granddaughter, Jessica Jamie Sands. Pat and Karen Cutsforth have returned from Canada, where they vacationed and looked at an experimental wheat station. Tom and Irene Wilson are visiting here this week from their home in Sand Point, ID. Tom was formerly with the Soil Conservation Service here. They have been staying with Tom 's sister, Johanne Wood. They also plan to visit friends at Ukiah. Babies To Mr. and Mrs. James Robert Sands, a daughter, Jessica Jamie on Sept. 2, weighing 7 lbs, 8Vi oz. Suggestions were made about possible changes that might be made to better suit her needs and those of her family considering the three main areas: public, private and service. Following a potluck lunch a Mini-Flower Show following the theme "Flowers Can Be Fun" was held with Mrs. Fred Van Hubbard, Mrs. Roy Lind strom and Mrs. Dave Baker acted as hostesses.
