. The Morrow County Picnic will be held at Laurelhurst

Sounds like a fun day meeting M.C. residents, who have
moved away from here and a good day for old fashion gossip.
Jim and Ilobbe DrUcol have returned from an eight-month
tour covering 11 states In their travel trailer. After spending
their winter in sunny Arizona, square dancing and meeting
people from all over the states, they then took off to visit their
new friends who had headed for their home states. It was
then as far as Wisconsin, seeing cows up to their bellies in
deep grass in Iowa, and Nebraska. In June everything looked
green and beautiful. In New Mexico, they stayed with Len
and Maxine Gilman, who are retired now, and operate a
, cattle ranch. Jim was put to work helping Len and his crew
brand some 1500 head of cattle. Jim and Bobbe are staying
here long enough to have dental work and then it's back to the
maps and the traveling.
Mr. and Mrs. Verl Cochern, Hubbard and granddaughter
Debbie Smith, New Orleans were visitors at the Orville
, Culsforth home.
Karla Weatherford completed her degree requirements in
4 occupational therapy at the University of Puget Sound,
Tacoma, in June 1975. Since then she has worked in Seattle
and Bremerton area hospitals under a temporary permit.
This week she telephoned the good news that she has taken
and passed the Washington State examination in her field
and is now a registered O.T.
She is supervising therapy aides in four convalescent
hospitals in and near Bremerton. She is at Shelton and Port
Orchard on one day each and in two different Bremerton
hospitals two other days. On the fifth day she completes
records In her Bremerton office.
Sad news from The Dalles is that Mrs. Effie Johnson, who
left many friends here when she moved beside her son Bill's
family several years ago is hospitalized. Effie suffered a
broken hip and now has a plastic ball Joint. Her friends can
write to her at The Dalles General Hospital.
The Rill Weatherford have just looked at vast acreages of
wheal being harvested, mostly in eastern Washington. They
drove to Dayton to visit with Weatherford relatives,
including another Bill Weatherford. Then they continued to
Spokane to spend the night with Justine's daughter Ann and
her husband, Ray Chenhall. Coming home they stopped at
the Snell Weatherford home in Ritzvllle.
The Montreal Olympics had real competition here this last
Sunday as a large crowd cheered the local swim team In Its
victory over Baker, Enterprise and John Day.
As a result of two Vkkls and their children meeting at the
story hour at the library, the Steve Wagenblasts. Lexington
and Steve Tollefsens, Heppner are planning to get a Vicki and
Steve versus Vickl and Steve tennis match set up soon.
Probably Ben and Greg Tollefson and Amy and David

Albert C onnor spent part of last Monday morning in the old
schoolhouse privy in the park-he diligently repainted the
inside of the structure that he and Bill Weatherford re-roofed
last week.
II Is sad to have so many nice ladies hospitalized, such as
