The mini-market, featu ring essentials, was opened briefly for Fourth of July shoppers and a tentative grand opening is set for about two Weeks. The store is in the Mobil Service Station on Court Street next to Farley Ford. The hours will be the same as the station which are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The Reeds also lease the service station and operate it. Kinzua hires new electrician A Terry Carter Kinzua Corporation has hir ed Terry Carter as a journey man electrician, in charge of swing shift electrical main tenance. Carter, an electrician for 20 years, comes to Heppner from Vancouver, WA. where he was an electrician at Carboran dum Company, an electro mineral operation that pro duced silicon carbide. Carter, who will make his home in Heppner at the Valley View Estates, is one of nine electricians that operate all phases of the electrical part of Kinzua. He comes to Heppner with his wife Candice and a son Mike, age 11. He is an avid motorcycle rider. OSU names area student honor roll Oregon State University has named students who made the scholastic honor roll spring term. A total of 614 students earned straight As and anoth er 1481 earned a B plus or better to make the honor listing. Students on the honor roll must have earned a 3.5 (B plus) or better on at least 12 graded hours of course work. From Boardman, Charles W. Acock, a senior in agri culture, received a 4.0 (strai ght As). Lewis D. Barnhart, a senior in business also made the OSU honor roll. Jeanine K. Holm, Heppner, a senior in science, also had straight a's. Robert F. Word en, also of Heppner, received honor roll status as a senior in agriculture. Book sale set Thursday, July 15 The Public Library Board approved Mrs. Weatherford's request for a special summer book sale. She stated that so many generous citizens have given the library many books in the last few months that a sale Is really needed. This first, summer book sale will begin during library hours, 7:309:30 next Thurs day evening, July 13, and will continue until the end of the month.
