Earlier this ) year ERDA guested interested groups to submit prel.m.na y arte ZSals and data. PGE's proposal was one of more than 60 submitted and is the only Oregon site selected. 0 Energy Facility Siting Council approved the site for Sfe project and heartily endorsed the proposal. In response to the EFSC endorsement, Oregon's congressional StTon recommended the proposal to ERDAAdministra tor Robert Seamans. The proposal was prepared by PGE s Generation Resources Investigation Team and offers the Serai agency space, services and facilities for the prjjcL Under Phase I of the project, ERDA wOl collect meteorological data from the 17 sites. The Irrigon man was filling his swimming pool last week when he saw his little daugh ter, floating face down in the pool. He scooped her from the water and began mouth-to-mouth rescusitation. It didn't work. He gave her a sharp blow to the chest and the little girl began to breath again. She is home from the hospital and except for a little bruise on her chest, is feeling fine. blades ranging in diameter from 125 to 200 feet and a power rating between 125 kilowatts and 1.5 megawatts. A 125 kilowatt generator can meet the electrical demand of about a dozen average households. Site selection for two of the 125 kilowatt generators will be made by the end of 1976 with construction to begin in early 1977. The locations for two of the 1.5 megawatt generators will be determined next year. During the two years experimental operations are planned, ERDA expects the utility hosting the wind equipment to utilize the power from the generator to the maximum possible extent and provide agreed upon data to the government. At the end of two years, the government has the option to extend operations for another two-year period based upon mutual agreement. Primary objectives of the project are to determine how reliable wind power is. how well it can be connected into existing electrical systems and how the windmills affect the environment.
