Recipes listed for home gardner
One of the most satisfying
things about being a home
gardener is that you can make
tha moat delicious recipes
with the "fruits of your
labor." Actually, you can
make some treats from the
vegetables of your labor too.
The U.S. Department of
Agriculture has two booklets
to help you. "Making Pickles
and Relishes at Home" gives
directions for selecting ingre
dients and preparing and
processing pickles and reli
shes. Included are basic re
cipes for special favorites
such as piccadilli and dilled
green beans. And, for those of
you who thrive on homemade
strawberry Jam, there' an
easy recipe in "How to Make
Jellies, Jams and Preserves
at Home."
Here are a couple of easy
reel pies from the booklets :
Dilled Green Beans: wash
and drain 4 pounds of whole
beans; cut into lengths to fill
pint jars. Pack beans in 7
clean, hot jars. To each pint
jar add V tup. crushed hot red
pepper, Vi Up. mustard seed,

garlic.
Combine S cups vinegar, S
