Gaarsland, 46, Prine ville, formerly of lone were held Tuesday at Clayville Mortuary in Estacada at 10 a.m. Graveside services were at High View Cemetery, lone, at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Gaarsland died Thurs day in the Veteran's hospital in Portland. He had been in ill health for about two years. H was born April 30, 1930 at Fergus Falls, Minn. His fami ly moved to lone when he was about seven, and he received his schooling there. He was in the p.S. Navy for four years, and served in Korea. Later he operated a well drilling busi ness' in Estacada. Survivors are the wife, Bonita, a son, Wallace, step sons Gary, Frank, Billy and John, all of Prineville; his mother, Ida Coleman, lone; sisters Jean Crawford, Port land; Gwen Healy, Heppner; Ann Schwarz, Heppner, Joan West, Milwaukie, Sue Ek strom, Seattle, WA; and uncle, Joe Gaarsland, lone; numerous nieces and neph ews. MA.RY E. SNOW Funeral services for Mary E. 'Snow, 58, were held today at .the First Christian Church, Heppner at 10 a. m. She is survived by two step-sons, Claude Snow, Spokane, WA and Bill Snow, lone and one uncle, Conn Atkins, Van couver, WA. BLANCHE I. SCHEELAR Blanche Irene Scheelar, 77, died at her home in lone, Monday, May 31, 1976. She was born in Salem, Oregon, October 3, 1898. Mrs. Scheelar was a mem ber of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Salem. She moved to lone from Salem, in Septem ber, 1975. Funeral services will be held today, (Thursday), June 3, 10:30 a.m., at the lone United Church of Christ with the Rev. William Graham officiating. Sacred selections "In The Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset" will be sung by Carl and Betty Marquardt, accom panied by Rikka Tews at the organ. Casket bearers include Jim Scheelar, Mark Scheelar, Da vid Scheelar, John Scheelar, Ashley McCabe and Ron Crabtree. Concluding services and interment will be at High View Cemetery, lone, with Sweeney Mortuary in charge of ar rangements. Survivors include a daught er, Irene Crabtree, lone; three sons, Elmer Scheelar, Port land; Donald Scheelar, Sa lem; and Larry Scheelar Jr., Bellevue, WA; two sisters, Mae Dalueg, Forestberg, Al berta, Canada; and Mabel Scheelar, Vancouver, B.C.; fourteen grandchildren, sev enteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and ne phews. His first hit that received national atten tion was "Ooby Dooby" in 1956. There was a four year lull until his next hit entitled "Uptown" was made. He then went on to establish his style with "Only the Lonely," "Candy Man Running Scar ed," "Pretty Paper," and "Oh, Pretty Woman." Roy Orbison will be appear Hearing Tests Set for LYJ or row County Electronic hearing tests will be given by the Beltone Hearing Aid Service office at the Northwestern Motel, Friday, June 4, 2-6 p.m. Factory trained hearing spec ialists will be at the Northwestern Motel, Heppner, to perform the tests. Anyone who has trouble hearing or understanding is welcome to have a test using the latest electronic equipment to determine if his loss is one which can be helped. Some of the causes of hearing loss will be explained and diagrams of how the ear works will be shown. Everyone should have a hearing test at least once a year if there is any trouble at all hearing clearly.
