Curnett also came up with a second run in the first inning with a run scored on errors. Gourmet went scoreless in the first three innings as Kinzua's pitcher, Gary Kemp allowed only one hit in the fourth inning. Gourmet not only had problems with Kin zua's pitcher but they made numerous errors on the field. In the second inning the batmen from Heppner scored 10 runs. In the third they scored two, and had three runs in the fourth. They finished with four runs in the fifth w hen CROPS RUINED . . . Only one home run was hit in the game and Kinzua's right fielder Jamie Sands took the honors in the fifth inning. Kinzua's hitting was the best effort so far this season. Every member of the team scored at least one run and hit over 500 per cent for the game. Kinzua's hitting was led by shortstop, Kevin Dick who was five for five. The Heppner team is now 4-1 for the season. Both the men and women enjoyed the morning's competition with good golf being played by all that parti cipated. In the womens play the top golfers for the Echo ladies were: Ruth Barnett with long drive and she also took the honors for low gross. Betty Branstetter won low net. For the Heppner ladies Cindy Kerr was also a double winner with awards for both long drive and low gross. Bev Gunderson was KP winner and the honors were split for low net between Pat Edmund son and Sue Jepsen. In the men's competition low gross for the Echo golfers went to Bob Pursel with Dick Sedgewick placing second. There was a tie for low net between Al Sibel and Howard Clift. In the other competitive events Tom Brandstetter had the long drive and Bill Gilmer had KP for the second shot on No. 8. Mel Petersen had the other KP award which was on No. 2. George Brandt came in with the least putts with Mel Peterson, Brice Haney and Ralph Noe runnerups. For the Heppner men Doug Gunderson won low gross honors with Charlie Rawlins a close second. Neil Parks won low net followed by Craig Cooley, Charlie Rawlins was also long drive winner. In the KP competition John Ed mundson was closest with the second shot on No. 8 and Bob Jepsen was best on No. 2. In the least putt division Dave Harrison topped the field followed by Francis Doherty and Lowell Gribble. Two flights of sole survivor competition followed a nice noon luncheon with Lowell Gribble and Ed Hiemstra coming out the winners. Beginners lessons will be held again starting July 8 at 5:30 p.m. The classes are offered through Blue Moun tain Community College so contact Anne Doherty.
