By Barton Pih Kinzua'i Softball team came from behind In the fourth Inning and scored five runs in the next three innings to beat Echo, 5 2. last Tuesday night at Lexington ball park. Echo broke the scoreless game in the bottom of the fourth when they scored two runs. Kinzua came back in the 5th scoring one run. In the sixth, and seventh Kinzua scored two runs in each inning. Members of the winning Kinzua team Included: Bill Baker, Jerald Seals, Gary Kemp, Tim Bellamy, Marvin Lane, Keith Cornutt, Kevin Dick, Lavern Van Marter,. Jamie Sands, Dave Eckman, John McCabe, and Mike Rowell, Kinzua now has a 2-1 record In the Hermiston slow-pitch 4-H Horse show date changed A 4-H horse tune-up session that was previously scheduled for this Friday has been changed to Saturday, May 22, starting at 4 p.m. at the Morrow County Fair Grounds, Heppner. All 4-H members, leaders and parents are invit ed to attend this pre -horse show training session. Classes in English Riding, Western Horsemanship and showmanship will be offered. They lost their opening game to Midway an won by forfeit to Lambs the previous week. This marks the second year a Heppner team has been represented in the league. The league consists of twelve teams: Kinzua, Smitty's, Eri co, Lambs, Valley Aviation, PKS, Navy, Midway, Mar lette, Echo, Gourmet and Hermiston Herald. The league ends August 5. Games will be played Tues days through Thursday at either the Hermiston High School field or at the ball park in Lexington. Games at Lex ington will begin at 7 p.m. The. next home games for Kinzua will be Thursday, May 20 with Gourmet and Wednesday, May 26 against Smitty's. and comments made on their performance. This should provide an excellent oppor tunity for members to obtain help before the upcoming horse show to be held In , August. - Hot dogs and punch will be provided with small fry and junior members asked to bring potato chips and inter mediate and senior members to bring cookies or dessert. Flags and Sunbonnets Enliven Sale Bargain hunters and lunch- eon customers found the ' Methodist's Bicentennial La wn Sale bibt Saturday a ' lively, colorful event. The old church bell announced the opening of the sale at 9:30 a.m. Flags flew, sunbonneted la- ' dies in long dresses were seen everywhere. The large selection of baked goods and the pioneer-style luncheon attracted a good response. Antique items offer ed for sale were unusual as were the cotton sunbonnets and cemetery jjieces. The large selection of house plans offered by Rev. Cutting sold well. A few sunbonnets and Kindergarten Registration Parents are invited to bring : their children who will be eligible for kindergarten next fall in to pre-register at Heppner Elementary School. Children must be 5 years of age before November 15, 1976, in order to be eligible to start in September. The pre registration is needed to assign students to either the morning or after noon class and for parents to pick up needed health forms. Gary Todd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Todd celebrated his 11th birthday with a slumber party at his home in Camp 5 on Saturday and Sunday. Girl Scouts from the Kinzua Junior Troop, the Fossil Senior Troop, the Fossil Cadet Troop and the Fossil Junior Troop went to Kah-nee-ta Friday afternoon after school. Accompanied by Sharon Kendall and Pat McMinn, Kinzua and Marilyn Garcia and Sue McClure, Fossil, the girls enjoyed the beautiful weather for a weekend of swimming and all the other features of the Indian resort. They returned home Sunday afternoon. Brown, Jones Raymond Reid and Chuck Mitchell, Kinzua, both won second places in their divi sions at the Oregon State Championship Snowmobile races held at Mt. Bachelor last weekend. Reid's second place was in the Men's Open Stock Amateur Class. Chuck Mitch ell won his second place in the Mens 400 Superstock Amateur class. Both Ray and Chuck, who are sponsored by Kinzua Corporation, won a second and third place in the day race in their classes to complete a good meet. Mrs. Betty Larangel and grandsons Dan, Donnie and Shawn Benson went to The Dalles Tuesday for eye care for the boys.
