Some waters opened last month and the balance will be open from this Saturday until closing. Game Commission person nel reported that Rhea Creek, Willow Creek and Cutsforth Park were stocked on Wed nesday of this week with 1 ,0t0 legal sized trout each. Rock Creek was stocked earlier. There has been somo fish loss at Penland Lake due to last winter's heavy Ice cover. The extent of the ks is still unknown at this dale. Team scoring for the girls were Sherman 110, Wasco County 88, Heppner 66, Pilot Rock 60, Echo 37, Weston Mc Ewen IS, lone and Umatilla 13 and Riverside 0. The Heppner girls earned three blue ribbons as Diane Holland set a school record in the Javelin with a toss of 113". Maureen Healy won the 440 with a time of 1:0.5 and the relay team of Kimee Hague wood, Lori Harrison, Debbie Cox and Healy was first with a time of 1:58 8. Molly Pierce qualified for state running second in the 880 with a time of 2:45.9. Healy. was also second in the 220 with .26.1 and Holland was second in the shot put with a distance , of 31'3-H". Other winners for Heppner were Healy, fourth in the high Jump at 4'10"; Taint Toll, sixth, In the long Jump with 1S'6"; the 440 relay team of Toll, Cox, Harrison and Hag ue wood finished fourth In the hurdles at : 16.7 and second in the 220 with :27.8. Wade Padberg earned sec ond spot in the 220 and the 440 to earn a trip to Portland. His :32.2 in the 220 was his best time ever. He was :53.3 in the 440. The 440 relay team of Marlin, McLaughlin and Piper qualified with :47.4 and second place. Dan Marshall's 122'" toss in the discus for second place puts him In the state meet. There were several other personal best by the boys. Martin bettered his own school record In the triple Jump by three Inches and placed third with 40'8". Marty Smith threw 46'104" in the shot put and placed third and earned fifth in the discus with a toss of 112'2". Greg Clow also placed in the discus with a 109'5" and sixth place. Marshall's 41' 24" toss in the shot earned fourth. Piper Jumped 5'10" in the high Jump for a third and the mile relay team of Marlin, McLaughlin, Piper and Pad berg were third in 3:46.8. Little League Much of the new Heppner Little League fen.e has been installed. A work party of team coaches was assisted by Paul Sumner and Bob Klaus in setting up the new fence last Thursday night. The remaining fence panels will be installed this week when painting of new advertising signs has been completed. A second base coat of paint on the sign panels was painted by a Lion Club work party of Mike Andersen, Clayton Herzog, Dave Dollarhlde and Dave Harrison. Hal Whi taker and his class cut and drilled end sections for tying the fence panels together. Little League Standings as of May 15: Giants 3-0; Indians 2-1; Dodgers 12 and Braves 0-3. GIANTS SUP BY INDIANS 84 In a weiliUyed Little League game May 6, the Giants lipped by the Indiana f-f to take sole possession of first place. Bob Bier pitched all the way for the win for th Giants. District 7 is the north east part of the state and this year only seven schools competed from this area. B schools A, AA and AAA all competed against one another. A team is comprised of five girls with the four best scores of each round added together for a team total. This year a tourney was 36 holes, 18 played Monday and 18 played Tuesday. The best two teams qualified for the state tournament to be held at Glendover Golf Course, Port land, May 17-18. Final team totala for the tourney are as follows: Red mond 761 strokes, Heppner 868 and Wahtonka 937 strokes. Medalist honors went to Robin Tarter, Redmond, 1st, 177; Linda Kit zone, Redmond 2nd, 179; Vicki Edmundson Heppner, 3rd, 190; Vicki Hassler Redmond, 4th 193; Cindi Kerr, Heppner 5th, 194.
