Jerry Sam ples and Andy Samples spent Sunday floating down the John Day River from Service Creek to Twickenham. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Norris returned home March 24 from their long planned trip to Hawaii. Carol and Earl left March 16 for Honalulu. While on Oahu they visited Pearl Harbor. Diamond Head, the Punch Bowl and the many other attract ions on the island. They also went to Kona. Hawaii. The Norris' found Kona to be much more relaxing than the highly developed are on Oahu. Carol says they enjoyed the sun. the tours, the flowers and the scenery but she was glad to be back home again, proving once more than the most wonderful scenery in the world can't take the place of home. Mrs. Betty Larango. her ; daughter Yvonne Benson and '" grandson Shawn went to Moscow, ID Sunday to visit Linda Larango. Monday. Bet ty, Yvonne, Shawn and Dan Benson went to Walla Walla, WA where Dan had dental ; surgery on Tuesday. They ' returned home by way of Richland where they spent ; some time visiting Betty's father. Mr. Claude Locke at : Kadalec Hospital where he is a patient. Mrs. Larango, Dan and Shawn returned home Thursday. Mrs. Benson stayed in Heppner with her brother LDee Larango while she hacj medical care. LDee brought Yvonne home Saturday. A family party was held Sunday to celebrate Dan Benson's 17th birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Doyal Hubbell went to Hood River last Thursday. Doyal is the man who has the job of keeping the school buses running. Thurs day's trip was just one of several quick trips that Doyal and Waneta have made lately to get parts to keep the buses running. Clarence and Betty Benson left Friday evening for Weis er. ID to visit relatives and take care of some business. They spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stirm and family. Mrs. Stirm is Betty's sister. LRay and Joyce Cody went to Portland Wednesday to spend a few days with Mr. and Mrs. John Palermo and do some itching. A party of seven friends Including the Cody's and the Palmero's joined the crowds dipping for smelt on the Sandy River. The Cody's report the smelt were quite good sized and a good catch was made. Friday Ray and Mrs. Palermo went salmon fishing on the Willamette. Mr. and Mrs. Cody stopped in The Dalles to take care of some business Saturday morning as they returned home. Mrs. Waneta Hubbell and Carol Dyer were host esses for a prty for first, second and third grade Sun day school children at the Community Church in Kinzua. Friday. The ten children who attended played games and enjoyed the refreshments pro vided by Mrs. Linda Nyseth. Mrs. The Everett Gordan's of Portland enjoyed the com pany of their granddaughter, Jill Benson and her husband Ronald and son Jared this weekend. The Benson's also did some shopping while in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Don Pike and Bruce were in The Dalles Saturday to do some shopping. They stopped in Wasco to see Don's mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. George Austin. Carlo Warming was back in Camp Five on Sunday to help his family move to their new home at Rock Springs. WY. Judy and the children have been busy trying to sell the families furniture since Carlo purchased a new mobile home and new furnishings in Rock Springs. Wish them luck in their new home! Mr. and Mrs. Don Paulus. Rick. Carrie and Randy wen? to Roseburg to enjoy the weekend with Barbara's par ents. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Mather. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Ken dal) and Allen went to Port land Tuesday for medical attention. Mrs. Deena Reid and dau ghters spent Wednesday thru Friday in Hermiston visiting her sister Shirley Peterson and her family. Also a guest at the Peterson home was Deena .and Shirley's grandmother, Mrs. rVenia Anderson. Mrs. Anderson who will be 91 on her birthday in May lives in Brookings. Mrs. LaVelle Jellick was accompanied by her daughter Kathy on a trip to The Dalles Friday. Thursday morning Sharon Kendall took her daughters Palti and Brenda to Hermis ton to stay a few days with their grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Berry. Sharon went to Pendleton to stay with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Mel burn Harris. Tuesday the Harris' and Sharon picked up Brenda and Patti for the return trip to Kinzua. The Harris' stayed at the Kendalls home until Thursday when they returned home to Pendleton. raiolcng one!
